you have NO idea how relaxing these videos are. I bet the horses feel SO much better after you're done

For those that know more about this service, what is the purpose of branding the hoof prior to placing on the horseshoe? TIA😌
@faelialuxe2 жыл бұрын
The purpose is to create a smooth interface surface between the hoof and the shoe and to seal the cut horn tubules, making them less likely to dry out in a dry climate or take on moisture and soften in a wet environment.

@@faelialuxe Gotcha, that makes sense. Thank you for responding. ☺️

I love these videos. They help calm my anxiety. Why do some hooves only get 5 nails while others get 6?
@chikichakachoko2 жыл бұрын
after watching a lot of hoof restoration video, i realize that if the shoe has the two pointy thing holding the front one, they will use 5 and if the clean U shape no pointy one, they will use 6. so i assume that it is for holding the shoe in place

I tried to find another channel that would explain what is happening (such has The Hoof GP just farrier style) but I literally can’t find anyone as good as you. Your videos are so satisfying it’s not even funny. I love everything that you do and I’m sorry that I cheated.

Found this KZbin channel cause it was suggested after one of the hoof GP vids I regularly watch! Glad to see we all have similar video tastes 😅

Not sure how I cam here but... this must be backbreaking as well as aches in forearms, hands and fingers... I can see that this requires such intricate technique and many years of experience. Wow... very therapeutic.

I honestly stopped on this video because of the name Maupin...we're probably cousins, especially if your family tree is from Kansas..loved the workmanship. My Granddad's cattle horses were never shod, just got trimmed every once in awhile. My horse liked to lean on the farrier while he was getting his hooves trimmed🙄.

i wonder why people dont re-use the steel hoof again instead of using new one?
@jillwisland6802 жыл бұрын
Maybe they do?
@patpierce48542 жыл бұрын
I believe it’s far more common to re-use a horseshoe, than fit an entirely new one. Since the hoof itself gets reshaped in the trim, it is logical to re-heat and modify the original shoe. Unless of course the farrier is changing to a different type of shoe for a special purpose…

so every time i try and watch other shodding videos i get really annoyed at the lack of detail, finish and skill compared to your work… so have to come back to your channel to reset 🤣🤣🤣

What is the wisdom of putting a hot iron on the hoof ..?
@Shep012 жыл бұрын
burn aways any high spots in the hoof, to ensure a good fit to the shoe. Also some believe it lesses chance of infections etc. but mostly for fitting the shoe closely.
@melifreije18412 жыл бұрын
The hoof didnt get that clean than when u used to use the other tool to clean it faster.
@kimcallaghan34042 жыл бұрын
Hes not cleaning hooves hes trimming and balancing them, hes not using the rasp to clean hes rasping to level the whiteline on the sole of the foot and knock down any surface cracks on the surface if the hoof wall
