A History of Chedworth | Hidden Gems in the Cotswolds

Chedworth is a beautiful Cotswold village near Cirencester, hanging off of a steep valley. It has a wonderful church and pub, and is very close to the Chedworth Roman Villa, one of the great examples of Roman Britain to be discovered.

Before I was married an old school friend and I did annual tours of parts of England by car. The Cotswolds and Wessex, Hardy Country, were superb. England has many beautiful locations.Luckily my wife is from a medieval Spanish city so I am able to continue my passion for all things ancient and medieval.

The church is deeply,peacefully beautiful.The windows are so right and the Mother and child is very beautiful.Thank-you for this, Rememberance Day has been very heavy today.The turn out at the local cenotaph was very large,the weather was gloriously warm and sunny.Your filming has rounded off the day with thankgiving for the beautiful paradise that was and is fought for.

What a charming place. Even the former railway, one suspects, would not have disturbed its tranquility. The light from the window flooding into the church had a wonderful softness, in keeping with the surroundings.

You should try delivering there. I work for Waitrose and it can be difficult driving a large vehicle around this village. Especially when it’s snowed.

Many many years ago I rented a cottage in Chedworth for a couple of weeks, it was built of Cotswold stone & simply beautiful. This holiday began my love & fascination of The Cotswolds. Thanks for that look at Chedworth. Mary tells me I've been through the place, although I cannot recall it. I have, however visited the Roman Villa on a few occasions, so look forward to seeing you explore the place in more detail.
