That wretched Henry, leaving the family indebted! In all seriousness, your personal historic connection to Cowley and to the area's bells is fascinating. If you discover any other familial links to sites visited in the future, please don't hesitate to include them if you're confortable to do so; i'm sure all your followers would be riveted to learn more. I'm pleased to hear that the redesign of the hotel interior is intended to be sympathetic to the history of the extand building and to the former manor but hope the 'Alice' theme isn't too prominent.

I once lived and worked in Cowley Manor when it was a conference centre in the 90’s. My parents lived in the nearby hamlet of Cockleford and the villagers would have annual events in the oak panelled ballroom. I got married in the manor church in 1995. A shame that you didn’t explore the village which is lovely.

How wonderful that you found that Alice in Wonderland was probably written here! And that you have distant connections with this lovely old place. I simply love watching your films, I return over and over again. Thank you so much for all your effort I’m quite sure it takes a huge amount of work. But I love hearing your opening music and listening to your dulcet tones. It’s great that you are about to introduce poetry as well! Thank you SO much.😘xx

Thank you for this channel and body of work as the Cotswold Explorer never disappoints. Cowley's grounds, exterior and history are lovely and fascinating. (Looking online at the Cowley Manor Hotel I do hope that I saw the wrong site because if I saw the correct ... what the what?!! Appreciating is one point even if not liking the result there is still that open mind appreciation. Yet all I can think of after seeing those interiors is dang! It's as if I've witnessed an indiscriminate butchery.)

Fantastic video, as per usual Mr. Robin!! However I've watched it at least 15 times since this afternoon...or should I say listened to it, because every time I started I got busy doing something else. But I'm now watching for the beautifully completed video and Locations!

Watching Robin with thanks to Ross, restores sanity in a world gone mad. Love the geneology bit. Part of my ancestry came to Ireland in 1169. With the nod from the only English pope, Richard le Gros with John de Bermingham his knight, my relative, eventually spendthrift the dosh. Know how you feel Robin. 🥂

@Robin , my family names keep popping up in your programs lol. Hampton, Clark to name two and yes my family is from England though I haven't any details. I imagine due to the names afore mentioned it was the Cotswolds . I am hoping in '24 summer to spend it there researching and photographing history for my genealogy. Any who hello all from Aberdeen Ohio Monkey, Felix, Foggy along with Minnie the dog say hi!!

Hi. We are very distantly related. Sir John Bret 1321 married Joan de Furnivall and she is a direct ancestor of mine. She is my 18th great grandmother. Another of my direct ancestors is Jordan de Reneville born about 1157. He was Lord of the Manor of Cowley. He's my 22nd great grandfather. Small world lol
