MIDORI ITO??? The first woman to do the Triple Axel in competition??
@lsrasr158
@lsrasr158 6 жыл бұрын
The Olympic Channel missed one very important moment in Women's figure skating history. Midori's triple axel at Albertville, the 1st woman to successfully land one at the Olympic Games. They do give her the tribute she deserves in the 30 one minute videos they created on impossible moments at the Winter Olympics. Number 11 is Midori's triple axel at Albertville.

It's funny that Sotnikova is the "2014 champion" yet the shot they used is her pre-rotating her flip (which not only got off scot free of deductions, but was actually given some positive GOEs). And this isn't even one tiny transgression in a flawless program (for one thing, it's not tiny), like, say for a random example, a slightly wonky landing from a massive triple lutz with clean entry, clean exit, solid rotations, and perfect air position. She made a lot of mistakes that would have caused ANYONE massive points but went, conveniently, unnoticed by the judges when, hell, even KZbin's 0.25 play back could catch. Sotnikova did not deserve gold. She deserved a top 10 finish, maybe. It was definitely one of her finest programs. But she didn't deserve the gold. So yes, I am bitter. Yes, I haven't moved on. No, I never will. (It's probably not her fault, of course. It's not like she went to the judges' tables and scribbled all over their scoreboards and passed it off as the official results in true Ron Swanson style. And Yuna's probably moved on from all this, probably not, but us fans definitely have the right to still feel bitter about it after all this time. Always.)
@Keepinitreal55
@Keepinitreal55 8 жыл бұрын
Why are you bitter exactly? Did you skate against her and lose?
@onionwarrior7447
@onionwarrior7447 8 жыл бұрын
I'm bitter because she didn't deserve that win. Just because I didn't compete against her personally, does not mean I have no vested interest in seeing my bet win.
@Keepinitreal55

Onion Warrior I'm sorry but who are you to be the judge of who deserved it? There's a panel of highly qualified judges who determine who wins the gold. I assure you they were not bribed with cookies. I'm sorry that you have a personal crush on whoever you thought deserved first place, and that they didn't ask for your opinion, but Russians have also come first in figure skating, and always will, deal with it. It's well deserved!
@onionwarrior7447
@onionwarrior7447 8 жыл бұрын
Exactly what mystery person said, keepinitreal . I wouldn't mind for the world if Sotnikova took first place if she actually had the program to show for it. Like if she went out there and skated programs like Kostner's SP and Asada's FS, then by all means, she deserves to win the gold, and no one would have been bitter about it and we'd all have a fine and dandy time following high level figure skating once more. But she didn't. She two-footed, under-rotated, and basically just slobbered all the way through her free skate. And it wasn't like her short was anything remarkable either. Let me clarify one thing: I get the impression that you think I find Sotnikova's program bad in and of itself. You're wrong. It was FINE. It was OKAY. It was even a good skate for HER. But it wasn't award-winning. It wasn't Olympic champion material. Because if she had what it takes to be a champion, even if she'd succumb to the stress of the OG and didn't deliver well during the WC, then she'd still have given a comeback deserving of that, following Sochi. But where is she now??? She's not even the Russian champion. She's not a one-hit wonder. She never was even any wonder.

It's funny to see trolls like you discussing other people's talent. When they make it this far, you realize that they're the best in the world!? Regardless of who takes the medals, they all deserve them. What's your talent? Aside from trolling on the internet and wishing you had someone's else's life.

Sochi 2014 remains the greatest robbery in the history of figure skating, and everyone knows of it. Sotnikova is a great skater, but no matter how rigged the competition is, you cannot dethrone the queen of the ice. Yuna Kim we love you, fighting! 💕

I'm late but, no Midori Ito? First woman to land the triple Axel ever at 1998. First to land at Worlds Championships at 1989 and first to land in the Olympics at 1992 (At the second half of the program to boot). First to land a triple-triple at 12? But you show Sotnikova? *cough fake champion cough*

Seriously Sotnikova ruined the video, and they even left out historic skaters like Midori Ito, etc. What's a shame. Just stop trying to shove Adelina into people's eyes. She does not deserve to be a champion, if this channel does not want to provoke bad comments then leave her aside. Feature her in every video is not going to make people like her more, it only makes the video less likeable.

Russia has always in history dominated the figure skating. Russia is a country of figure skating, the large number of champions, scores and gold in all types of figure skating. Russia is the only country that 40 years is not lost not a single Olympics in pairs. Russia and ice are one! And what is Korea?! Korea is nothing, one Yuna + one gold medal. Seriously?! What a queen?! This is ridiculous!:) Queen, only for Korea, no more. For the world Caroline Cosner more queen than Yuna. Now, the Queen is also Russian:) Korea no one in figure skating! to deal with it

And yet Russia had to CHEAT and STEAL their first gold medal in female figure skating because they could not wait and they did not let the righfully winner Yuna make more history with two gold medals. What a shame Russia, WHAT A SHAME. One of the worst (for me the worst) Olympics ever.
