It’s a good presentation. It might have been worth mentioning the location of the Gloucester Panel Signal Box next to Horton Road X-ing (on it’s way out, being largely replaced with transfers to Cardiff, Birmingham, Didcot) but it’s been a major structure since the early 1970s. Re the closure of Eastgate station, I think there were quite a few services between the north and Bristol and so on that did not call at Gloucester at all, such that changing in Cheltenham was required for some journeys, especially with loco hauled stock.

Good talk, thanks. It seems we really suffered from long term planning and the "triangle" was yet another wasted opportunity.

Very good presentation, but important bits omitted. No mention of the correct name for Horton Road Crossing (Tramway Junction), also that the Gloucester and Cheltenham Tramway experimented with a steam locomotive around 1825/30.

This was so interesting and well presented, but it was very disappointing that we didn’t see all the photos clearly, some were just left being shown on the ‘cine screen’. Nevertheless I really enjoyed it.

Very interesting. I didn't know that there was a tramline connection from Cheltenham to Gloucester.. I couldn't quite work out the route from the maps.

Great shame they closed Eastgate, in many ways it was the more logical station. At least I can remember going through it in the early 1970s. Wanted the Morrisons station on the north-south chord of the triangle but MP said it was a fantasy. The bridge going over the top meant it would have been fairly cheap to build. A long central platform between 2 tracks with stairs to the bridge Great Central style would have worked.
