Great video mate. I know some Scottish names can be tricky to pronounce, but Dalziel and Dalzell are pronounced Dee-Ell 👍 Confusing I know, sorry. Good vid tho

Been attending FP since I was a kid in the 70’s and seen most of the changes mentioned. Would hate to ever move to one these modern plastic stadiums. 😊

I've always found it a bit funny that one of the stands doesn't go the full length. It looks a little strange but also unique.

Hello Archivist Athletica. This interested me as I am from Bradford. Here is a quote from asking about the colours on Google. "It is erroneously believed that Motherwell chose the claret and amber colours because they were the racing colours of Lord Hamilton; it is more likely that Motherwell were influenced by Bradford City's English FA cup win in 1911." Note the other Bradford club, Bradford (Park Avenue) took their green and white from Celtic, brought by a former player there. They were just Bradford, but needed to distinguish themselves from City and are supposedly the only team with brackets in the name. You could look into these things and the former Park Avenue venue? I am actually a Rugby League fan and grew up in Manningham, who were the first champions, before becoming football team Bradford City. Strangely. the first game I saw was a 3 to 2 win for City against Sheffield Wednesday when Jack Charlton was their new manager. I was in the stand that was there from the old rugby days that later caught fire. The fact that Wednesday had also fallen on hard times meant the disaster at their ground had similar issues behind it. As for Justice Taylor, my dad knew him through court work and he sent a representative to my dad's funeral. Good luck with the channel.

Hello Alan! Yeah I was a little hesitant about adding the info on the kit colours just cause I felt it was probably most likely to be folklore and less likely to be fact, so that is good info to know! Thanks! Ive always been interested in Bradford (Park Avenue) when playing Football Manager, as I didn't realize that is the reason that's why the clubs name is in brackets. I am certainly interested in making a video about one or many of the clubs in Bradford, so I will certainly add something to my list.

@@ArchivistAthletica Nice to get a reply. I have commented elsewhere that City colours are the colours of Manningham and the former rugby league team. The surviving rugby league team was not the same club. It came from the same background as Park Avenue and took the name Northern from the fact the northern English league was the one it played in, formed in Huddersfield, which Manningham had won. They changed to "Bulls". Their colours of red, yellow and black are also used by Park Avenue as the Bradford colours. I always found it interesting that they were also the national colours of Germany, as shown in the flags of the failed attempt to set up a country in mid 19th century and that Bradford has a Little Germany district in the centre. Look up composer Delius as an example of the cultural and trade links.

This story about getting the colours from Bradford City is the one which appears in the official history of Motherwell FC. Dalzell (or Dalziel) is pronounced DL

Great video mate. Love a bit of Scottish football history. Personally I support Rangers and Queen of the South, but my Dad was a life long Motherwell fan, so I've always had a soft spot for them. Davie Cooper and Tommy McLean were also Rangers legends before they jojned Motherwell as a player and manager respectively of course. Would love to see you do a vid on the history of Palmerston Park, home of Queen of the South 👍

Yeah the term certainly carries a much larger connotation today, but one of the sources I was reading used the term to describe the land that the stadium was built on. We today would likely classify the land as farmland. Thanks for watching the video!
