Jeremy is right that we are in a bubble of everything but no one knows how big the bubble can get or how long it takes to burst. His bearish take on climate change, demographics, and the environment validate that he is an overly pessimistic person. Humans are incredible at solving problems but terrible at forecasting them.
@bridgetgear8621Ай бұрын
The reason why the bubble doesn’t burst is because of stock buybacks. Which weren’t allowed before the Reaganomics, and should be forbidden again since is the wrong incentive for corporations. Grantham is a legend, he consistently has beaten the market with GMO. The people saying in the comments he has been wrong, he hasn’t. He might be early but no wrong. He is a prodigy.

Grantham will eventually be right (he's been consistently wrong for 15 years now), but it is simply a fact that if you had listened to him those past 15 years the opportunity cost to you has been HUGE and frankly you would have been left behind. Invest and protect your downside risk and you'll make a lot more money than trying to predict when the 'super bubble' will pop.
@tecomamanАй бұрын
He seems to be more compelling now
@yannhusson411Ай бұрын
Totally agree with you. Some investors have been predicting the mother of all bubbles for decades. If you're predicting a castrophe every day of the year forever you will eventually be right because catastrophes happen from time to time.
@nicholas5396Ай бұрын
Hes not been saying for the past 15 years to be out of the market. He looks for quality and value. If you listened to him or his funds you'd still have made plenty of money. Matter of fact looking at GMOs Quality Fund (GQETX) it has outperformed the S&P 500 the last 10 years and with lower max drawdowns. Which for the average young investor isn't a big deal. If you're someone with several million or more in the market that is much more appealing than chasing retruns.

Very strange interview where the host does not challenge some points. JG has been saying bubble for past 5+ years while the SP more than doubled. So EVEN if it crashes 50% in a year, it does not make any difference to anyone who listened to him. Also he says 'bubble stocks' and at the same time extolls the technology leaders Mag-7 as the greatest quality & monopoly companies (& invests in them in his GQETX fund) - so what exactly are the bubble stocks in US?

I was tracking Jeremey Grantham for over two decades now. He is a man of integrity. However, Despite of all his concern for our planet and mentioning just about every source of alternative energy, he never mention nuclear. Nuclear energy, the full cycle (running a new type of reactor on what was previously considered a nuclear fuel waste,), which Russia not only developed the technology, but already implemented was never mentioned by Jeremey. The only reason this I believe is that it cannot be controlled by the western establishment to monetize all other sources. So, I guess, the concern for the planet has not yet overpowered the concern for profits and power.

Getting the Timing right is not easy. For example it can be said with 100% certainty that a new-born child no doubt an extreme fringe example will die. But when? 100, 90, 50, 40, couple of days? Who knows? It is the same with natural phenomena like earthquakes. The 2 plates in the Pacific Ocean near the US & Canada all the way from California to Vancouver are at it & the last time they did the “song & dance” to put it mildly was in the 1700’s & the time is ripe. Yet how many are taking that into consideration although umpteen number of people will - if they survive that is - if the quake hits anytime soon. Then the “event” in question is done & apart from aftershocks, another 300 years of fun? 😊 With markets the many pluses & minuses sequencing at varying scales keep crossing out one another & the big one is surely coming but to get the crescendo point right is incredibly hard. Just like mini forest fires controlled burns, if markets keep crashing without firefighter Fed interfering with the burning, that will keep the whole thing going up in flames at a later point in time with the Fed a helpless bystander. Maybe “super successful genius” Trump who screwed up every business he touched including when playing the role of “house” in the casino business he ran - which is not at all easy to do & he accomplished the impossible - maybe that qualifies him to be the Fed? The very last Fed that the US will have? Good look to the US. 😊

Do you think that we understand how best to deploy and apply the AI that we have? What if AI gets better, will that mean more important deployments and better applications or no change? Is the Internet you used (e g., Amazon) in 1999--approximately four years after it was commonly available--significantly better or worse today? If you believe that the Internet has improved, why won't AI get much better? It will. So this talk about AI being a flop or that there's over-investment is just nonsense.
