The Acoli nation is not located only in uganda but the other in other EA states such as South Sudan, Kenya and even Tanzania. Remember, it was the white supremacists rubbish that created uganda. The Acoli nation is a lot older than that colonial state.

The main dance is known as the Larakaraka dance. You need alot of energy to dance it. And as most African dances have women dancing and men playing instruments. The acholi dance has mostly men dancing side by side to the girls though sticking the Calabash rythimically too. I just set a question for my students about the Acholi and luo migration from Bahel Ghazel in south Sudan to Uganda at pakwach (Pubungu) up to western Kenya and the great luo Bito dynasty formed along L. Kyoga with the great Bunyoro kingdom. And I'm now marking the students papers. So great to see the content on KZbin. Thanks for the great work.

Acoli are Lwo/Luo people they have more that 26 distinct dances. The Luo set up the Buganda, Bunyoro kingdoms and other kingdoms in East Africa. They are nilo-shemites which means their original religion was ancient Judaism not the Jok or under spirt worship. They still know about the Creator in Heaven.

Love your work, man. Have you thought about doing a vid on the Hima in Uganda? I struggle to get my head around them.... especially how they relate to the Hema in the DRC, and other groups nearby like the Kiga, Nyoro, Toro, Hororo, Nkore/Nkole and the Tutsi. Like, are they all one people, or are the tribes more like 'cousins'? Or do have they just had similar pre-colonial social structures (pastoral, clientalist, recent migrants). President Musaveni of Uganda is Hima, and the Hema have been very involved in the Ituri War in DRC. And obviously the Tutsi are the Tutsi. Again, love your work.

When you talked about our Dances I remember back in the days we would scoop the accolades right from the schools,District, Regional & national competitions ...there's something spiritual about our culture we left other Tribes wondering, the judges thought of striking a balance in the competitions by giving us 3rd or 4th place just to motivate the other contestants ...of course the cow people always got multiple favors from the judges 🤣🤣🤣

Let me corrected you brother you left a lot of thing out. Acholi know our origin brother. Northern Luo Origin Luo South Sudan Acholi, Anyuak, Balanda Boor, Chollo/Shilluk, Luo/Jur Chol, Maban, Pari, Thurri/Shatt Dyiang Kulu (Cow of the river) gave Birth to Omara (some Luo oral history says that Dyiang Kulu was the wife of Omara) Omara was the father of Kolo, Kolo was the father of Wat Mol, Wat Mol begot Okwa. (Okwa was a King in tLuo cradle land) Lou elders say the cradle land is Rumbek, lakes state south Sudan Okwa went to visit an unknown river where he saw two beautiful women, Nykayo and Ongwak. Okwa sought to take them as wives, After paying a heavy bride price to their father, Dunyel. ( Oral history states that Okwa Had other wives beside Nyakayo and Ongwak) Okwa fathered Nyikang, Dimo, Gilo, Anyuak, Ju, Okil, Otin, Luo, and the only daughter Achol. Deidricks’s (1912) believed that Nyikang and Dimo were twins. After the death of Okwa dispute over who would succeed arose between Nyikang and Duwat(Dimo), because Duwat was chosen by the then Luo council as the successor to Okwa, this prompted Nyikang to leave the Luo cradle land with his followers. Some Luo oral history differs as they say The separation was due to dispute over (Bead and Spear). Duwat/Dimo is the Ancestor of Luo/Jurchol, Shatt/Thuri in Bahr el Ghazal. Nyikang is Founder of the Shilluk/Chollo in Malakal(Mabakal), Upper Nile. Maban are believed to have separated from the Shilluk/Chollo in Soba near Khartoum. Nyikang's son Bwor is the ancestor and the Founder of Balanda Boor. Nyikang younger Brother Gilo with Anyuak become the founders of the Anyuak tribe in Gambella, Ethiopia and Pochalla, South Sudan. Acholi are decents of Luo from the Anyuak area where due to war and clime they migrated into Eastern Equatoria magwi county South Sudan and into present day northern Uganda.
