The Ordinariate of St Peter was so much like an English TLM. I accidentally went to the one in Ft Worth

I agree completely and I appreciated it and still do for this exact reason.

It is the TLM which they held on to from the Catholic days.

You should do videos on the medieval variants of the mass in Scotland, Norway, Sweden, The Holy Roman Empire, France, Hungary, and the Mozarabic Rite!

Anglican rites performed in communion with Rome by ex-Anglican priests dates back to at least the 1980s - diocesan "Anglican Use" parishes were the forerunners of the Ordinariate, at least here in the USA. In America, the Ordinariate is growing as conservative Episcopalians continue to be disgusted with what they see in their own churches, and even as regular Catholics find great appreciation for the beauty of the Anglican Mass.

I second the Mozarabic Rite suggestion

Pray for the future of the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of the Southern Cross 1: Most of the Clergy are elderly, over 70 years 2: We do not have one single Church building in the Ordinariate 3: The majority of laity are over 60 years 4: Eleven years on we still do not have a Seminary 5: Rome requires $60,000 a year from each Ordinariate community and most cannot afford that 6: None of our communities or missions have reached Parish status yet 7: In my community most are elderly, poor, disabled etc and most other communities are in a similar situation 8: Very few births are happening 9: I do not know of any Marriages happening ( we had one older couple regularise their existing marriage) 10: Only two seminarians, there was a third one but he dropped out (those two go to a regular Diocesan Seminary) 11: Two Ordinariate communities have closed or been closed down Growth is very slow and some have left We now have a Bishop who is a temporary Apostolic Administrator not a new Ordinary Please pray 🙏 the future of OLSC as a Personal Ordinariate it does not look good

There are communities in Japan and Guam, but the Philippines was a missed opportunity. Yes, there are Filipino Anglicans here -- the Episcopalians, the Independent Church (IFI), and the Methodists (UMC and IEMLIF). Since the Roman dioceses have become a bit Americanised despite practicing the Spanish patrimony (similar to Guam, actually), it would have been a good opportunity for the Australian Ordinariate to have a dialogue with the Filipino bishops, if not for COVID.

The Ordinariate in Australia has pretty much shot themselve in the foot, they became obsessed with converting lapsed catholics and "brinign the novus ordo crowd over" that there mission of converting the (quite sizeable Anglo Catholic population) became dead, we tried to help them but they became stubborn. They have no future which is a tragedy. The ground is fertile, but the Labourers are few.

I just met Fr Stephen Hill (who is also the priest in the thumbnail) after a morning mass during my visit to Sydney. It was literally me and the churchwarden there... I also attended an evensong at a relatively nearby Anglo-Catholic parish (just to have a look because the Ordinariate evensong is only celebrated once a month) and it was packed, as you'd alluded to. Thanks for the information, we need to pray for them. I'd love to hear more about their Ordinariate if you have more! :)

Why not use the original Sarum Rite instead of appropriating a Protestant-inspired liturgy? It seems like an insult to the English martyrs who were murdered by Protestant heretics that wanted to do away with Rome.
@TristanHayes Жыл бұрын
1) When the Catholic hierarchy returned to England, they decided against resurrecting the Sarum Use. 2) Divine Worship: The Missal finds its basis in books like the English Missal and the Anglican Missals, which were translations of the Roman (Tridentine) Missal into Hieratic English. It isn't particularly "Protestant-inspired"
@King-uj1lh11 ай бұрын
It is fully Catholic. The mass is inspired by the Sarum Rite, the Tridentine mass the only “Protestant” influences, are saying summary of the law, the comfortable words (from the New Testament) and a couple prayers like the humble access (which is based off an old Sarum prayer and sound fully catholic. In the ordinariate rite we have the prayers at the foot of the altar, old confiteor, double confession of sins, Kyrie in triplets, introit and gradual, we have the offertory, the canon is obligatory, it’s ad orientum, we only give communion on the tounge, we have the final gospel, the triple lord I am not worthy. It is very Catholic and Orthodox, anything truly Protestant has been removed, everything good about English Christianity has been retained.
