I made this video to show off the true potential of the Honda Rancher four wheeler. Probably 90% of these 44k miles were at 40 to 45 mph down dirt/gravel roads, the other 10% were in the mountains bashing through brush and rocks.
We have never been inside the engine or transmission, definitely never adjusted the valves and I don't think we have ever changed the spark plug. Otherwise, all cv axles have been replaced 2 or 3 times and the differential once or twice. If not for a problem with I believe the cvt transmission solenoid, we would have tried to eclips the 50k mile mark.
I know many other atv brands claim to be more reliable and of a better quality but I have never seen any that have half as many miles as this Honda

Excellent video. I recently bought my first ATV and already put almost a 1000 miles on it in less than 3 months as a daily driver for work and recreation with no plans of changing my routine.I really hope I have your same good fortune for longevity. Am curious, but what would you guess your average top speed held at for a considerable length of time (or miles) without running unsafe high rpms? e.g. for example I often have to run 30-35mph for stretches of 2-4 miles and the tachometer reads around 5300-5700 rpms steadily on level road/terrain. Does that seem high or abnormal and/or do you think that is okay for the engine? I never blast the throttle because I want my machine to last for years like yours do.

I just bought a new 2024 Rancher 4X4 foot shift with EPS ( power steering ). I see I will have a LONG time with it. I'd like to add I had the same one with no power steering and I will never go without that again. It's a dream with it!!!

That's what I'm hoping, just bought my 1st ATV and chose the 420 (solid rear axle tho) with some of these reasons in mind, among many... thanks for the vid
@jaket3329
@jaket3329 Жыл бұрын
I think you've made a good choice! The solid rear axle will give you the most reliability possible with the Ranchers, and they really aren't that much rougher than the independent suspension models, enjoy your machine!

It's a 15w-40 synthetic blend, I think honda recommends 10w-40 but we have the 15w 40 in bulk for our equipment so we just use that. And Congratulations on your rancher!

@@jaket3329 That's a few hours for sure ha. Thanks for letting me know. I'm always interested in hearing how many hours/miles guys are getting out of their atvs. There's a farmer from overseas that recently told me he was at over 3,000 hours on a couple Yamaha Kodiak 450s, and around 3,500 hours on a Grizzly 700 that are used daily on his farm. He said nothing but regular maintenance, and he does oil changes at 150 hour intervals. I thought that was very impressive. I would expect the Honda's to do every bit of that, if not more. Excellent quads!
