Hey, I'm a biologist here... and given that you've already lost 2 colonies to this terrarium...have you tried making sure the plants you placed in the tank aren't naturally insect repelling? Or that the soil isn't too overly acidic or basic? Certain species may have a higher tolerance than others, but a plant species that excretes a natural insecticide could be the cause.

I kid you not, I used to live in an apartment on the 1st floor, one day an ant colony decided to setup in our kitchen. They would literally walk through via the front door downstairs, climb up the stairs, enter my frontdoor end go into the kitchen. This happened for a couple of days untill I blocked the hole they were coming through with a chewing gum.

Ants are very intelligent species, most of us undermine the power of ants. They are like us, they build cities, cemeteries, wasteland, nursery home, the Queen chamber or for us the Buckingham or White house, since a baby was born, they are destined for specific jobs like what we aim too. Ants are so wonderfully made. Since I was young I've always had an irrational fear of insects, but since discovering your channel 2 months ago the fear has noticeably subsided. I've even begun appreciating just watching the many different little insects running about their business outside. I always tell people that, with the right presentation, any subject can be made interesting. You are one such example. I have little interest in ants and other colony type insects but the way you describe their life and habits is just so engaging. I feel excited when you see something cool, I feel sad or anxious when something goes wrong, and, before I know it, I end the video satisfied with the new knowledge I've just acquired. In case you're wondering the weedy plant that volunteered was a Peperomia (same genus as some of the striped-leaved plants that you did plant). The bushy plant that you trimmed was a Pilea. Both can be horrible weeds in warm, wet, and somewhat shady areas. The name for the new colony should be Phoenix - both because it is the revival (2nd attempt) and because Phoenix, Arizona USA is a desert climate.
