Fully agree with finding a local place besides the dealer for hydraulic hoses. The mark up on the hoses from the dealer is extreme.

Great video!! The hydraulic top link is definitely a game changer. I think I first saw the advantage of using them in your box blade video. I’m 59 years old and suffer from some minor neck issues that give me a fit after doing that kind of work where I’m having to constantly watch behind me. I’m in the process of installing a backup camera to hopefully help with that. Brock On!!!!!!!!

I’m now that much closer to adding a hydraulic top link on my 2025R. Plus the speeded up video, sound on, was funny to watch. Chomp chomp. Beautiful windmill, Brock!!

I do not have a hydraulic top link, but that looks like a game changer for that type of mowing. Would be awesome for box blading too. I'm going to need one of those.

Do it. Its awesome 💪

Its not cheap, especially if you don't have remotes on your tractor already. Been thinking of this for my tractor it would make adjustments on the fly with a box blade real nice and easy....that alone would probably justify the cost of having remotes added and getting a hydraulic top link setup. Just comes down to the lack of $$ all the time LOL.

Have you ever thought about using a hedge trimmer that's on a pole. The Black & Decker 20 volt one I have has a head that pivots. The grass will pretty much lay where its cut and not go into the water, you'd have to rake it up, but that's a job for the grandkids!

I'll be checking in on one of a hydraulic link

That’s pretty slick Brock! Saved a ton of weed eating. 👌🏻

You must have missed the part in the owner's manual to keep the pto output and gearbox shaft parallel. Changing the angle creates a LOT of stress, due to shaft phase issues, on the entire driveline. Hope you enjoy writing checks for tractor/implement repair.

I am 52 and used a Chain from about 15 years old . Chain is cheap and gives no trouble .

Could you turn that hydraulic distribution block on the top link to one side or the other so the hoses aren't getting damaged?
@RockhillfarmYT Жыл бұрын
Yes, but they still really need to be on 90s because they would rub the three point arms a little bit when they go up and down
@ronnieferguson5706 Жыл бұрын
You should leave some tall grass around the pond for the fish may what to look up the research on this issue
@chrismclaren7074 Жыл бұрын
I agree. some herbage (grasses and wildflowers) around the perimeter could be made to look good, save you a lot of work and would be much better for wildlife in general. Your pond to do with as you wish, of course, but worth a thought?

Hydraulic top link is the top add on accessory to a compact tractor. Should be a factory option.
@Cowboy_Steve Жыл бұрын
Howdy Brock! There is a third option... get a pair of scissors and snip them one at a time... lol! I've heard that before about the hydraulic lines - find a local place. I like supporting local small businesses so that is excellent advice. Your other bridge project is starting to sound like fusion reactors - they have been saying we are almost there for 30 years now 😁Nice job demonstrating the various techniques. Thanks for sharing 🤠

Actually a much quicker option would be a sickle mower, some of them have a tilt feature which goes down to 30-45 degrees depending on the model...trouble is those dang sickle mowers are ridiculously expensive now too.

I also built one of those for my tractor. I have a third of a mile of gravel driveway in steep terrain to keep maintained , so I use every trick I know to make it easier .I buy the cylinders at surplus supply and fabricate my own .... I could not find a ready made one for my tractor and wanted a longer top link than was available at the time as I use the PATS easy hitch that brings out the bottom a bit and I wanted to count for that. I built 3 sets of remotes for mine to have options @@RockhillfarmYT

Hydraulic top link is bomb on rotary cutter is awesome. Hopefully u greased that tail wheel after sinking it. 😮😮😮 I don’t have a local Deere dealer but Napa auto parts store makes hydro hoses at great price.

You don’t have a choice and the grass going into the pond may have some bugs for fish food
@rickvaughan8993 Жыл бұрын
Yes, and it also acts as a fertilizer. Causing vegetation to start rapidly growing in the pond. With a weed eater you can direct the falling/cut vegetation away from the water and onto the bank. I do that and I am 77 years old.
