Very cool. PS: Why doesn't this channel have more subscribers?! You have very useful information here. And I don't even do metal.
@rzutyjenkin3986 ай бұрын
This plug-in is more about time alignment than phase alignment. Phase shifts introduced with filtering(for example, Eq on a parallel track) will not compensate with this. Using two amplifiers always causes randomness in the spectrum when mixed together, even if both signals arrive at the same time. However, this is not always a problem. Sounds with completely different dynamic response(completely different gain structures) mix quite well. But even two sounds that do ugly phasing mixed in equal proportions can be balanced by levels in such a way that the final effect will be more interesting than from a single source, but in that case one of the signals must be much quieter.

This can also be used to mix stereo guitar tracks after separating them into their own mono tracks. It looks like multiple tracks must be used if four stereo tracks are used from a single DI source. So after splitting into mono, it would take six instances of this plugin to reblend all four stereo mixes back into one stereo stem. While the norm is to hard pan two guitar DI's left and right, I instead mix and pan two guitar stereo stems partially to the left and partially to right. Sometimes if I use the hard panning, I use a third mono centered track as well. Each of these three techniques creates different stereo imaging. Sometimes it is good to try all three to find which best fits the mix, and sometimes use any and all techniques on the whole mix of the song. This plugin to automatically fix phase issues is absolutely going to resolve complicated layering.

What do you mean with a stereo guitar track? If you are talking about efx, then you should simply do the correction before the efx. I don’t know any reason why an electric guitar should be stereo except for efx. If you are talking about acoustic guitars, miked in stereo, you can simply get away by using one side of the stereo signal as a sidechain trigger for the plug-in. No need to phase correct each side separately. That even makes things worse. Because you don’t want to change the relation of the two stereo channels.

@@KohleAudioKult I have several dozen Kontakt, Amplesound and other types of guitar sample libraries. Shreddage has quad tracking with DI support which such libraries are already phased corrected on the DI tracks, or as one would assume. But I use multiple brands so phasing is going to be an issue. I deliberately blend various distortions, cabs and impulse responses which does cause noticeable phasing issues from time to time. Some of my sample libraries do not have a DI track either to which I do find useful and some already are double tracked and processed which I do turn off whenever possible any reverb or delay efx, unless it produces the desired effect I want. These are stereo libraries already, some of which already have pre-processed distorted tones. Layering multiple libraries creates the tones that I choose. Sometimes phasing is not an issue at all but rather produces a desired scooped effect, but that is not the norm because then I have to make all the other tracks fit. Using an app like this will help me to also identify phasing issues beforehand because remixing guitar stems with phase issues often causes unwanted issues before the final mixdown and may need to be redone entirely. I do record my own limited guitar performances as well. I use both pedal boards and plugins interchangeably for both performance and libraries. I realize and deliberately do not conform to production techniques except where it is necessary. While standard mixing and producing guitar tracks produces well established pleasing guitar tones, I use my own experimental techniques to discover new tones. Since I travel and stay in hotels half the year doing construction (I use to try to lug my gear around), I do not have the luxury of making noise so I never have bought a guitar amp, although plan on doing so in the next year along with a professional reamp box to which I may have to build a soundproof box to put it in.
