its really been cool seeing the evolution of your brand. discovering your IRs breathed new life in my helix so many years ago and to this day, the mesa ALMIGHTY has been my main IR in my axe fx 3. whatever fractal is about to release to simulate virtual mics might be what i need since i dont record, but playing with mikko 2 is pretty insane. will def be my go to if i ever start recording again.

Just bought the plugin and i love it! Not only is it working like a charm, I as an amateur feel like i'm actually learning quite a lot about the tone-cab relationship through this plugin and the videos. Amazing stuff. One thing would be really helpful though: an Undo-Button for the EQ-Section on the right. Since theres a lot of trial and error going that would be so useful!

This was an awesome tutorial on micing techniques! I'd love to see a lvl 2 video on doing the blends. One question -- I keep seeing the presets selection drop-down in the Mikko 2 videos... are these basic blend recipes specific to each cab available, or something like the IR's included in the individual cab packs?
@mlsoundlab Жыл бұрын
We have a video on some blends coming very soon! The presets are just a few of Mikko’s favourite blends, there aren’t many because we really wanted the focus of the MIKKO2 plugin to be making your own blends and experimenting yourself. That’s not to say we’ll never include more presets though! -Kai

Awesome piece of software, but *please* do either some mid tier versions with less cabinets or sell single cabinets, because the price tag is out of reach of lower income folks like myself.
@mlsoundlab Жыл бұрын
Hey thank you so much! Single cabs for the MIKKO1 are 39,99€ so the thought here was - for the price of six cabs you're getting all the cabs we have. Right now it's around the price of 5 MIKKO1 cabs. We actually made a questionnaire about this and people voted for the heavily discounted bundle over single cabs. 😊

Any chance Mikko2 can be ported from macOS to iPad? Seems like that’s becoming a more and more viable platform for music making. I’d love to have it there

Recording noob question . When you record, how many dbs is it in your daw? I tried recording vocals but also guitar without clipping and it just sounds quiet . Like in the Daw to hear it at a seemingly adequate volume I’m boosting the volume to about -4 db, then boosting frequencies to have much more presence . Where do you have it usually? And is it normal for it to sound so low ? Idk if I’m expecting it to sound like a finished record in loudness but I guess I ended a reference to do it properly . I definitely need to put compressors on it to feel like I can hear it well. For example in this video, what dbs are the guitars in the mix? And is this the level in which one should basically have it before it gets mixed And mastered to be loaded? Side note , even when recording vocals I’m not clipping and yet if I go a lil louder I clip , get the volume isn’t very loud at all , I don’t get it! Any advice? Thank you

After recording bass do you change speakers mikes placement or it stays and you fit bass sound to it?
@mlsoundlab Жыл бұрын
I usually just track DI bass because I love Precision basses so there's just one sound. I can get away with using one of the Amped Bass presets most of the time. 😚 Bass mic up is a little bit different.

Lol basically mikko knows a thing or two. Possibly three things about making a good sounding IR. I also use mikko 2 for all my amp cab tones.

Can your MIKKO2 software (the free version) allow the user to use their own IRs instead of yours and avoid paying over $200 USD? I find the price tag of the software to be quite steep for what it is.
@rodrigosallesguitar Жыл бұрын
Think of your IRs as "snapshots" of a cabinet + a speaker + a mic (or even multiple cabinets, speakers and mics). The MIKKO2 is a cabinet simulator where you can choose the speaker and place the mics as you want for taking that "snapshot" (and exporting them as IRs too). So it would make no sense using your IRs within it. As for the price... it has 38 cabs and 9 mics, and you can combine them in tons of different ways... so maybe you will never need to buy any IR packs again 😅.
@mlsoundlab Жыл бұрын
IRs are single mic positions. MIKKO2 cabs have all possible mic positions in them. We can't make up mic positions based on a limited amount of IRs. "For what it is"... guitarists will gladly spend this amount of $ on a pedal or pickups that makes the tiniest difference in your tone while this is likely the biggest difference im your tone. So what it is - is something that is very undervalued. IRs are what made modeling beat real tube amps. 😊
