Lace is a dwarf, a race that has always been stocky, and that image has been taken while the character is fighting. I don't think the character being ugly or masculine or whatever is even the problem - I think the problem is that the artists behind the work are doing no legwork to make us love the character. What is art, if not communication? If people are responding negatively to what you're communicating.... maybe you just suck at getting your ideas across and need to reassess what you're trying to say with your creation. If you look at old paintings and classic works of art, you can see the women there are rarely supermodels. Usually they are depictions of common folk. common women. It's a war against femininity in general, androgynous characters come in feminine and masculine but they only focus on the masculine form of androgyny. Ironic for games trying to be inclusive that they only represent one type of person..... True inclusivity would have attractive women, men, androgynous people who look masculine and feminine, and would give everyone things they like. Not this hate rhetoric where they do things to hate bait and mock men for liking attractive women..... The worst part of all of this is they are undoing generations worth of work at accepting each other, because when you attack with nothing but hate you create a group of individuals who just want it all to burn so you feel like they do.....and eventually power struggles change regardless of the censorship, especially once the money dries up.... It's also silly how easily these people are appeased by corpo pandering, body type 1 and body type 2 is as lazy of a fix i've ever seen. Rather than invest in a game that has a large pool of body types so it's not just clearly "we replaced male and female cause we can" they just took the laziest "fix" and what's worse is it worked for these people.... that's how little these people value themselves it's no shock they can't do anything but be hateful to people who disagree with them.

I've actually seen quite a few women who look like Cyael's edit. Office women, nurses, teachers, background extras in TV shows etc. Never in all my life have I seen a woman who looked like the original. I've seen male to female trans people that do, but never women.

"looks like a child"... yeah, my wife looked young like that even after 2 children and in her late 20s. And she isn't even wearing makeup! She was shamed once as she was about 25 doing groceries with our then baby by a rando saying "when children have babies". She didn't even know how to respond to so much bs. (true story btw!) It seems some people have no actual sense of what a child looks like because today every 12 year old paints her face with a ton of makeup. So yeah, granted. the model on the right could be a 16 year old with a painted face, could also be a 35 year old Korean model.
