One Piece has a ton of characters, but it's much more important as a fan to remember which groups/crews/"factions" exist in the world and what their deal is than to remember every single character by name. But all real fans remember all of the "big players" and fan favorites by name and that alone are several dozens.

I'm not surprised that you haven't really had an opinion on One Piece beforehand, it is a very difficult story to pin down. At its base, it is a story about a rubber man who wants to find a treasure and become the king of the pirates, but because of how lore heavy and big the story actually is, no fan would ever describe it as being that simple.
@rommelgonzalezgonzalez11713 ай бұрын
At first you may think that finding the One Piece would be easy and that it would be nothing more than a luxurious treasure with a lot of money. Now after watching the episodes that follow, you now don't KNOW what One Piece could be and how important it could be.
@flyingeagle38984 ай бұрын
One Piece has realtively little true filler. However it does have a pacing problem especially in later episodes. Most shonen anime covers 1-2.5 chapters of the manga. Early One Pice is also in this range but later episodes often cover less than 1 chapter. Instead of true filler, it has extended recaps, extended fights, and lots of panning and reaction shots. Personaly I think this is worse than actual filler episodes.

One Piece is really that kind of story that is widely different than what people assume going in. It starts out pretty generic villain of the week cartoon and it keeps getting bigger and bigger that it's difficult to explain without spoiling anything. Even Gear 5 was huge not entirely because it's an anime transformation but the implications going forward. One of the most popular misconception people had with OP is that of Luffy. He's a really simple yet unique and nuanced character it's amazing. That's why you see a lot of people recommending the series like crazy because most fans been through that, having wrong misconceptions before they've read the series. That's why you can really tell if a person haven't consumed the series based on their comments.

As a Jojo fan, you'd love One Piece. Don't let the length deter you. It's length is it's strength. When you're 500 episodes in you realize, "ah shit, I'm half way dammit." Then when you're 900 episodes in you will have this daunting feeling of running out on binge material for one of the greatest stories ever told. That's how I felt when I was 100 episaway from catching up. It's like a countdown you can't fathom. For the people that start today, they will have over 1100 episodes of binge material l, I'm jealous. I only had 850 years back. The length is what hindered me from watching for a long while, so glad I finally jumped in. No regrets.

Gear 5 was huge but it didn't break the internet other then a bunch of illegal anime sites servers struggled severely when it premiered. "We Are" is the main theme song of the anime, it's used for anniversaries and there is a very special version of that song used for a episode that happened right after the end of the Wano arc. The Marines are the policing force of the show, they work for the World Government, there are both good and bad pirates and marines. Of the Big 3 One Piece and Bleach is still ongoing (Kubo is still writing a brand new arc for his story).The Wano arc was a *LONG* arc (195 episodes 🤯), the blue guy is Jinbei, he is a Fishman, he is like the Martin Luther King Jr of One Piece lol. I dont really get the sentiment of one piece taking ovee your life. If you start watching it and done enjoy it, you just stop watching. If you fo enjoy it you wont really have any problem with how long it is and at the end you will wish for more (i did). And when watching its not like you can watch other shows simultaneously lol. Btw, One piece has roughly 10% filler and they are almost always done as their own little arcs. So they are very easy to skip.

@serpentario21004 ай бұрын
Yoo I wasn't expecting a one piece react lol, yeah the show has filler, the main problem with OP is that they stretch a lot of scenes and they recap a LOT, just for an example, there's a fan-made project called "One Pace" where they cut out all of the filler scenes and restructure some scenes to be more faithful to the manga, if I'm not mistaken the Dressrosa arc had around 120 episodes in the anime, but in the One Pace Version was something around 40-ish episodes. It's kinda insane lol, there are moments where one piece adapts around 0.5 a chapter in a single episode, and just for comparison, If I'm not mistaken JoJo's was adapting around 3~4 chapters per episode. If you do decide to give a chance to One Piece someday, I highly recommend the one pace version since it's just a better way to watch it and it's way faster too. Also, the older episodes of one piece have a recap scene in the beginning, and the openings are like 2m long, so if you just skip that every episode you are watching effectively around 15~18m of content, so it helps a bit. Also my favorite anime opening... that's kinda tricky to answer but I think it is the Brave Shine from Fate Unlimited Blade Works, that opening has incredible visuals and the song is amazing, I always find myself listening to it
@RealAdamtheBeast4 ай бұрын

I suggest to stay away from one pace for the first watch. They messed it up. Important stuff too. Don’t look at it as a race, but a journey and just enjoy yourself. 🏴☠️👑❤

It's a good stopping point if you wanna just check if you want to continue or not. By the way, the G5 did manage to break anime websites apart from crunchy, so it did break the internet. In addition, the impact was greater in Japan and other parts of the world, although it was not very well deserved in Latin American countries.
