I never get tired of seeing newcomers to the show discover that Luffy can stretch. For something so fundamental to the character the reveal of it was perfect. Incidentally; he's not completely invincible; blunt things bounce off, which includes pistol balls, but blades are still effective. There's a few other strengths and weaknesses as well that turn up sooner or late

Plus, his resistance to blunt force attacks only goes so far. If someone strong enough hits him hard enough, that’s it for him.

@@critica77y77 that one's a misconception, although the live action adaptation confuses it a bit by him seemingly getting hit by things sometimes. Unless they've ignored that part of canon here though he's literally completely immune to blunt force; every example in the manga/anime of somebody seemingly hurting him involved another weakness coming into play. The most misleading here would be CP9, who seemingly went at him barehanded, but ultimately only did damage with slicing attacks from their martial arts or from literally having claws.

@@Madman13K CP9 was one thing. An angry Nami is something completely different. On a serious note, most opponents haven't been able to hurt Luffy with blunt attacks, but he didn't become completely immune to them until he unlocked Gear 5.

Yes, Garp has Haki, but I doubt he was actually using it, given that doing so would have been a bit much for Luffy to handle. Aside from that, Impact Dials are very painful for him to use.

Love the reaction, one small thing for ya'll to know. The names in the show are arranged in a east asian confucian/courtesy name style. This means (loosely) it's last name, middle name, first name. So Monkey D. Luffy means Monkey is the last name and Luffy is the first name. Roronoa Zoro; Roronoa = last name, Zoro = first name.

I don't know if anyone mentioned it (or if you already know), but the names of the characters are "Japanese" style, last name first. So Monkey D Luffy's first name is Luffy. Zoro is Roronoa Zoro's first name. Helps to keep things clear.

I can see that in every new reaction of people reacting to Luffy's character and they immediately fall in love with it. Its very underrated how well Luffy's character was written, he was written in a such a way that brings the good out of ppl and want you to support him protect him and make him succeed. Mihawk said it better in Marineford, he has the most powerful power in the world. Rallying people with him without even knowing.

It makes me happy seeing people smile and laugh 'like idiots' in such a genuine manner to one of the best shows ever made (Anime, but the LA has adapted it quite well, as opposed to so many other attempts at a Anime to Live Action). I'll just throw this little bit of a fun fact: Eiichiro Oda (original author of the manga) is literally top 10 best selling fiction authors of *all time*. While it is understandable to not have enough time to watch 1000+ episodes of the anime, I love how well the LA has adapted the source material, even if some things are thrown way earlier than they should be (Garp, for one). You two are in for a wild ride. And if the chance ever arises for you to actually watch the anime, I can 100% guarantee you will not regret it. This, coming from someone who was quite 'against' watching the anime to begin with, and later finding myself absolutely and madly in love with its world and characters.

It might not seem like it right now, but this story, from what I've experienced in my entire life, probably has the best world building. To me, it actually feels like something huge, and it's because of the incomprehensible amount of thought and dedication that Eiichiro Oda has put into this world.

Yeah, there are only a few writers who could match the genius of Oda but at that point it CAN'T get better, just equally good lmao. For me Lord of the Rings(book of which all the "classic fantasy" tropes comes from), Songs of Ice and Fire(Books of Game of Thrones), Worm(A web novel that is almost the length of One Piece and its just AMAZING), and the Cosmere(A universe of books in which each planet is it's own series with it's own amazing world building) are the only works of fiction that match the world building of One Piece and even exceed it in some aspects but never in everything because as I said the level of all this stories is so fucking good that is just peak fiction. I also heard the the Wheel of Time is the One Piece of Books but I haven't found the time to read it yet :(

Basically most of Brandon Sandersons books are in it. Wheel of time is 14 books starts at around 1000pages and only gets larger each time. Brandon Sanderson finished the series last 2 or 3 books as the author died.

If u liked Live action, u must watch the anime by urself. If u felt any emotion in this, u will just be lost in the depth and emotion of the actual story. It is a promise, u have never read a story as detailed, emotionally rich and epic as this. Anyone who loves a great story can't miss this. Just give it a try. U all can thank me later Just a short trivia: The mangaka/writer of OP who is Eiichiro Oda works 21 hours per day and sleeps only 3. He has been doing this for past 30 years. This alone should be enough to give u the passion and dedication behind this masterpiece. It is still one of the best literature ever existed, with the mixture of childish banters/fun. It handled many dark and problematic themes with much care and devotion. It is a must watch for anyone. U won't know what u are missing until u watch it 🙏

For info about the Manga/Anime, it's in top 5 of the most book sells in the world. Top 2 with more than 500M books sell. (First it's Superman's comic book). 2 guiness book one for sell 320M then recently second record with 500M sells. It's out in Manga in 1997 and the Anime in 1999 and it's not yet finish , the episode 1080 was out recently. Eechiro Oda the creator had supervised the creation of this Live Action. Of course, many things was shrinks to the Core for fit in 8 episodes (18M $ each) that take many Arc from the Manga/Anime. For people like you who are new in the story, i think you gonna love it. This season it's even the beginning of the story, the real one. So many things will not be explained yet but you'll understand all the story of this season 1.Have open mind for all the things you gonna see, objects / people etc...Oda have really a lot of imaginations. And he put many forshadow and eater eggs in this season already. Have a nice show. Welcome new Nakamas :)

It's always fun seeing newcomers react to anime, but seeing all the new folk discovering One Piece has been extra fun because of Oda's storytelling and world building abilities that weren't lost in the live action adaptation. The numbers on the comic (manga) and anime are a lot BUT if you enjoyed the live action I really would recommend giving either of the previous versions a shot. Even a glance into the anime openings can be fun. Enjoy the show, can't wait to see more.

the main character's name is Monkey D Luffy, the naming system is following Japanese's order so it's last name first then first name at the end, so Monkey is last name, D is middle initial, Luffy is his first name.... it goes the same with every other characters in the show...

They got the creator of the manga on board, and gave him creative control in his contract. Nothing happens without his approval. That's really all it takes for a good adaptation. Pity they're only just starting to discover this now. I hope they learn a lesson from it and there's other good adaptations that follow.
