Metre haulage will always be part of child hood romance. The first shot of train driven by Diesel engine was beautiful. Beauty and glory will always be with steam engine. Nothing can replace it.

What a marvelous improvement of Indian railways during the last 100.years!!! From steam train to diesel and then electric modern train. Hats off to Indian railwaymen who have done this tremendous work in cooperation of each and every one. The nation will never forget them all.

As of today, Almost the entire Main line,i.e, the Delhi-Ahmedabad route has been electrified (including Jaipur), thereby reducing the footprint of diesels in the region.

I have seen jaipur junction when MG was operational and I still remember the beauty of the BG tracks under the sky without any catenary thingies destroying the view. 100% electrification is not practical for big countries USA, Canada, and even countries smaller than us like U.K, Japan etc never went for 100% electrification. Diesels are always better for long routes and low traffic routes where electric traction proves more costly and these countries know it. The best option still was to switch to ethanol diesel locos could have been easily modified to run on it and same goes for road vehicles. Could have eliminated the need for fossil fuels and greatly reduced pollution while still keeping the stats of internal combustion engines unchanged but practical options are never implemented in our country thanks to our gawar politicians who came from Italy and now chaiwala background only they will make you dream of unnecessary development and ignore real issues 😔Sad reality. I'm guessing Most of the railfans here know that when war breaks out trains are super important for military movement and power stations are Priority targets for the enemy❗👻Good luck using electric locos when our friendly neighbours🇨🇳🇵🇰 try to be friendly again.

Pls check facts, no speed was increased or time decreased after guage conversion. Pink city express MG and shatabdi exp BG takes same time.

In the beginning mg trains used to take 6:30-7 hours of Delhi, now normal express trains take 5-5:30 hours. And trains like Double Decker takes 4 hours approx. Can you give more details about pink city?
