Love the history lesson; plus Open G.... and other tunings. I know it’s an excuse; but after losing the index tip of my left hand trigger finger 19 years ago; my guitar playing went into darkness. But open tuning brought me back. And guitarists like you; I am very thankful in your knowledge & teachings in this. Have a great day Dwayne. 🎸

Wow! Thank you for sharing that with me. The pleasure is all mine! Open tunings are a door to a whole other reality of playing. Cheers Steve!

So glad I discovered this channel! Thanks! Many like Keep have 5 string guitars, as many chords avoid the 6th string. I have also heard many artists like Eagles Of Death Metal change the 6th string to G so they don't have to avoid that string when they strum. It'd be interesting with a video (if you havn't already - I'm new here) were the pros and cons of tuning the 6th string to G/D.

So it was a Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones, who came up with open G tuning? Ha ha.😁🤪

I didn't say that. Maybe you misunderstood. The story starts in 18th century Russia.

@@doubledsrockschool Maybe even earlier. I understand that some older Lute tunings were tuned in a similar fashion. Great to see your focus on open G. Just what I've been looking for.

So. Did Keef rip-off Ry? Of course he did. Just like Ry ripped off numerous Mississippi and Delta blues artist before him. They were artists that ripped off the people before them. Somebody was the original but God only knows who that is. Look. Music is composed of 12 notes. There are only so many was to play 12 notes. AC/DC made a long and productive career basically playing three cords. These self centered prima donna musicians need to get over it. IMHO.

I couldn't agree with you more. We all borrow from each other. Nobody creates in a vaccum. Music belongs to all of us. Cheers!
