This is the THE definitive video to get a guitarist onboard with open tuning! Over the last 40 years I have repeatedly tried open tuning, but kept going back to standard tuning. This video changed all that! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this and explain everything so well!

As a kid we learned Stones songs in reg tuning …of course didn’t sound quite right…now looking forward to honoring them by using the open tunings…actually a bit easier as well🎸😎

Zep 4,ha ha the hermit album?? Never heard that one in all my years as a huge fan. I'm sure that you're aware that the record is " UNTITLED " . Intentionally by the band. Nothing on it indicates that it is Led Zeppelin.

Love the playing, song choices and your demeanor of presentation! Spend a lot of time checking out the things I love since becoming disabled, divorced and the custody battle won! I'm actually kind of old at 62 too! So, I see a lot of people doing these type of videos,... sort of. They don't have the same approach for an intermediate like myself. Only thing I would ask for,... is complete walk throughs of certain songs but,... I know that's asking a lot. Only 1 other so cool I can think of out of 100s!

Wasn't sure what route to take to effectively play and enjoy the blues until I viewed this video. You just paved the way for me to do exactly that. When you broke out with the boogie my face lit up with a smile followed by a bit of a chuckle- that's it! Always well done.

Hello, i have the same opinion like you, i must not copy a song note by note. OK i am a bit lazy and astounded what KZbin Kids can play.....but what is it good for that someone says that i can play like Angus Young or who ever. I learnd from them but i make my own thing. I am not a technical Player, i play what i feel to play.....Kind regards from Germanistan

I love hearing this tuning with a heavier guitar tone. I'm exploring the possibility of playing Doom Metal with Open G, just because of the inverted 5th power chords. They make the guitar sound like it is tuned much lower than it actually is.
@doubledsrockschoolАй бұрын
That's a great idea! I am sure it would sound wicked! You can even tune the high E to E instead of D. You have a heavy de-tuned bottom end but standard tuning from the 4th to 1st string. Ripping leads without the fingering change.
@davelanciani-dimaensionxАй бұрын
@@doubledsrockschool Didn't even think of that! Yup. Trying that instead!

Wow. I just learned how to play. Jesus just left Chicago. Watched Billy Gibbons play live. He didn't play that song in open G. In fact, he played it in standard tuning with the A string tuned down to a G. I'm just saying.

The number one all-time open G song is Honky Tonk Women. You completely overlooked it. Also, even though I play Daughter the same way as you, they played it on SNL and it was capoed on about the fifth, and it may not be open G.
