I normally like to use either 6.03mm or 6.02mm. in this I have a guarder 6.02mm internal diameter.

Instant sub, I have an A&K M249 para and I've been trying so hard to get my hop up to... well... hop! I have a Bullgear Unit on the way so I am hoping that will sort it out, is there anything else you can recommend to me to help with sorting that problem out?

The bullgear hup unit will be the end of your problem! 😎 So much more effective in the way it works compared to the standard unit. I use mine with a mapleleaf macaron 60 yellow rubber and an omega nub. That will handle what ever weight ammo you wish to run in the gun. Have had mine for years set up like that. 😁

@@CosmosAirsoft the original hop units use a metal ball to apply the hop which is very unforgiving on the BBs. You will see big improvements I'm sure.

@@trashnik9279There is somebody alive. The spring holds the hop chamber against the gearbox when assembled to ensure good feeding and air seal, so it is important if you would like to have your M249 working properly. 😎

Hey there man! I recently got back into airsoft and I got an A&K Para 249 that I love to bits! But I’ve been having issues with the trigger sticking and low rate of fire, as well as the hop up being hot garbage! You have any insight into any of those? And where do ya find the bullgear hop ups!? And do they come with their own nubs?

Hay! The trigger can be a bit of a pain as it is a switch inside. You may have to open the gun and manipulate the metal arm that activates the switch so that it doesn't stick on so much. You will see what I mean once you have the gun open. The bullgear hop can be hard to find, Google will be your best friend to find them. That will be the best upgrade you do. These use normal hop rubbers and nubs. I prefer maple leaf macron with omega nubs. You will have to look at the shimming as seen in the video to make sure it runs smoothly. If this doesn't get you the desired ROF then you can choose a faster motor. 😎

@@adzzzysarmoury I’ve opened the gear box to try and fix the trigger issue, it’s not the metal arm on the outside, I think it’s either wires shorting out, or the contacts inside the trigger switch, but idk what a good upgrade trigger switch is, cause most guns (M4/m16/AKs) don’t use trigger switches. I HAVENT opened the trigger switch itself yet, I didn’t wanna screw it up since I knew nothin about it! How exactly do you shim gears? Cause I’ve heard people say use shims or shim the gears correctly, and I have zero idea what shims are, unless the shims are the little brass/copper rings on the axles of the gears, I call them bushings, so those very well could be the shims everyone talks about, I just want a bit of clarification on that! And the bullgear hop up seems like it’s recommended by some, and others say to R-hop it or flat hop it? Idk what that means and if it’s worth it, you have any insite on that too? (And I’ve been looking at a better motor, but I don’t want a 30 RPS support gun with the crappy A&K mags, they hardly hold up to stock RPS, let alone 30!)

@@Darkmagician769 you are correct the shims are the really thin washers on the Axel's. The term bushings refers to the bits that sit in the gearbox shell that the Axel's sit in. The idea behind shimming is to get the gears to sit at the correct height towards one and other so the teeth mesh perfect but the gears are not too tight or too lose when the gearbox shell is closed tight. Personally I wouldn't bother with 's' or 'r' hop as you can get the same result with the maple leaf rubbers without any faff. Some people might tell you otherwise towards s and r hop, bit it's up to you.

Oh okay the bushings are where the bearings sit okay that makes more sense, so when you shim you wanna take out the piston, motor, and the springs and latches so they can spin freely, and get them moving as freely as possible correct? I’ve heard people recommend promethius purple bucking/nubs, what’s the difference between them and the maple leaf 60/70 degree nubs and buckings? And if ya don’t mind, what is S and R hopping?

@@Darkmagician769 yea so you can either use bushings which are solid and more durable or you can use bearings that are less durable but allow for smoother rotation of the gears. I normally use bushings over bearings. Yea they are good rubbers, I like the macron rubber as they offer a larger contact area with the BB. I mainly use 0.32g so the larger contact with the BB helps the effectiveness of the hop on the heavier ammo. The (soft) 50/60/70/80 (hard) rating on the hop rubbers is how firm the rubber is. In all honesty I have tried all of them at various different power levels and haven't seen a noticeable difference really. It is supposed to be the more FPS the harder rubber you need. S and R hop are when to put individual patches in the barrel window to contact the BB and have an internally smooth hop rubber to go over it.

Ive changed my gear set, put in a Maple rubber, changed the piston and got the Bullgear hop and a Prommy barrel but I'm still not satisfied with the range and hop, any ideas?

It's very difficult without having the RIF in front of me to say where the problem lies. How far is it shooting at present? 60m is usually a realistic expectation. Does it make the right power? Are you using an omega nub with the maple leaf and check that it comes through the barrel window evenly when the hop is applied. Make sure the barrel is really clean and that it is not a really tight bore like a 6.01 as this in my opinion is too tight.

Hey mate, I have a question. I think my particular one is a lemon. I've had it for 2 years and it simply won't work with anything other than a prommy purple and nub. Tried a maple and it didn't work. Tried a random bucking and nub and it didn't work. Tried a flat-hopped prommy purple and it didn't work. Always for the same reason: BBs are too tight even with hop off or the trajectory is erratic. Soon as I install a standard prommy and nub.. everything is fine, but the range is not as good as it could be (shooting just under 350fps). Friends tell me its a skill issue, I don't believe so as I've assembled countless hop units and they all work. So I'm not sure what's up.

My m249 curves the BBs to the left the hop up sits at like a 30 degree angle. Do you have the same problem with the stock hop up?

It maybe a hop rubber that is not seated correctly, could be the barrel is slightly twisted to one side in the hop chamber. Also make sure the barrel is completely clean. 😎 The problem with the standard hop chamber was the way in which it applies the hop as it used a metal ball which wasn't very effective.

Marginal depiction of the gear box. I would suggest maybe going slower and talk through what you're actually doing. Also the camera was off the lower half of the gear box, so hard to see what you're doing.
