I was hoping there would be a fundraiser. People that actually care need to put their money where there mouth is. Prayers don't work. Money does. Start by donating to fundraisers like this, but also.. donate to political campaigns for people that will actually do the will of the people. Vote for politicians that will make healthcare for all a priority!

I think we really need to do this too- I know it’s hard, and maybe something incognito, but more education and how the general public, can work together to lobby for a change in these companies or figure out a way to boycott or create pressure. Basically, we all want to play a part in social reform and while it is a pleasure and honor to donate money, these people are already paying their health insurance and the health insurance are failing them egregiously because of way excessive greed and so it’s time for us to address a big picture and learn the tools a poor put some power back into her own hands as well as hand out the daily meals and come together - but we really need to figure out how to put the power back into our hands So these middle men are not taking everything and draining us years of our time and lives and money when they’re exacting huge costs and not serving the most needed cases

So please, for those who are supporting you and who are donating please find a way to send this to that company and that they may be made aware and at least possibly have a conscience towards being more careful about cases like this one

I know, and I'm so sorry about the situation. I know it's very difficult to build a free healtcare system from zero right now, especially for a country as big as the US. But I really hope you guys can achieve it, it's totally surreal how high the prices are even for an ambulance. In my country we have free healthcare that is pretty good, and then you can actually also have doctors appointment in which you pay. The only difference is that if you pay, you can have the appointment earlier and some surgeries that are not granted by the free system (ex. cosmetic ones) but the doctors are usually the same and use the (public) hospital structures so the price is not that high. I recently had to have surgery, saw a doctor fast (so I paid, about 150€) and then got free surgery since it was a necessity so I was covered. It's not perfect, but a system like this could be a good compromise. Wish you guys the best, I really hope the situation changes

Another thing about how US is the set up. I moved to UK and found there were doctors offices (they call doctors surgeries) every population center, even a small town would have one they made sure there was enough to give the entire country access with in walking distance. The amount of offices are present to cover the country though slightly strained due to Tories cutting funding. In US I lived in an area where I had to bypass 2 semi large towns and lots of miles of suburban sprawl to get to a doctors office it was 45 miles away. When I got there my ex husband was told he couldn't see the doctor for his first appointment until February,it was November. So US doesn't even care about setting up the infrastructure to make sure all citizens get covered, it's not that it can't , it won't. It won't because it already knows only a fraction of people will get access to care anyways. That is why it was extremely ill equipped for the pandemic, it's only focusing on a fraction of its clients paying for care.

Also, what I clearly noticed as an immigrant in the USA is one thing, that almost nobody mentions in regards to medical costs in the USA: legal fees. In Germany, you don’t sue your doctor. Maybe in extremely severe cases and you’ll maybe be awarded 100K dollars. In the USA people sue quickly and for millions of dollars. So, doctors need to have huge insurance policies. Technically free healthcare doesn’t exist. In Germany, we paid 400Euro ourselves, for health insurance and my employer paid the same. However, employers don’t gift you that money, the deduct it from the salary they pay you, before even making the offer. We have very good insurance through our employer in the USA and I was able to finally get diagnosed with a ct scan, wich is not easily done in Germany, for example it’s not routine in the ER, to get a ct scan in Germany. But healthcare is much more the same for everyone and basics are covered better . In the USA you are so dependent on having luck with coverage and your insurance and that’s ridiculous. I think insurances should be governed and having to cover certain things, all life saving medication, for example. Why can insurance even decline medication without even giving a good alternative medication? That should be illegal.

My heart is absolutely aching for Mason and his family because I worked as a case worker within a health insurance company for years, and my job was making sure medications and treatments WERE approved for kids like Mason, and hundreds of other high-needs patients. The story of his family filing appeals and prior authorizations, getting all the clinical notes imaginable and yet facing denial after denial... I know that fight, I've written those letters, and thrown every piece of legislation and regulation imaginable in the faces of the "representatives" denying or delaying treatments to my patients. If my knowledge and experience in getting these people to listen can be of any help, I'm here.

@@kathyevans6260 Kathy, what an amazing grandmother you are! I feel so badly for Mason and hope that things improve for him and your loved ones soon. The "clinical" denial of such vital medication for Mason has me utterly infuriated. If they’re declining children lifesaving medication (which they happily do, I’ve had to fight them my entire life) imagine how utterly careless they are with the adults. It’s disgusting, frankly.

Would love to know the NAME of the insurance company. They have probably already done this, but I would call the health insurance commission in their state, as well as their senators, and local media particularly investigative reporters. Make the biggest possible stink. This is OUTRAGEOUS! and we need to start holding these companies accountable. As Mason's dad pointed out it's also penny wise and pound foolish to deny a mediation which will cause someone who's condition was well-managed to become very ill and require much more expensive treatment. Love and strength to you and your family♡

In the big hmo kaiser in California, i know for sure it's the regional directors. They have a pot of cash every quarter to spend on care in their jurisdiction. BUT they get a large percentage of the leftovers in that pot as quarterly bonus. They make sure there's a lot leftover by... finding new ways to deny care. They have every incentive to cut good meds that people rely on. What can anyone do about it in the end? Go to the real insurance providers in America-- crowdfunding 🤦🏻‍♀️
