I pray that your neighbor’s tuxedo cat is ok. I’ve had a lot of my indoor/outdoor cats disappear throughout the years which is why I try to now keep my current cats strictly indoors.

I hope kitty shows back up. ❤ LOL love that with the news paper. We had a cat named "Buster". And my husband loved to read the daily paper wile lying on the floor. And Buster (a beautiful all black cat) would circle around and lay down across the whole paper. As a matter of fact that is how he got his name. Cal would push him off the paper saying buster you better get off the paper. He be laughing the entire time. So he became Buster. I don't remember what his name was before. It did make me giggle to see Richard do the same. 😄 Good memories.❤

I used to feed about seven feral cats in my backyard and over a period of about a month they all except one disappeared. I think one of my neighbors was putting out poison. The only one left was a very feral black mom cat that I had trapped and spayed. She still lives in my yard but I have since enclosed my whole backyard and caught some feral cats and kittens and relocated them to my backyard where they are safe. I have ten which is all I can afford to keep as I also have ten indoor cats. But all but one of the outdoor cats will let me pet and touch them now. I’m hopeful that the last one will eventually get used to me. Either way at least they are safe and fed with shade in the summer and a shed with a heater for winter. People can be very cruel. I had the yard enclosed so the cats can be safe. It was heartbreaking for all my colony cats to just disappear especially in such a short time. I hope the kitty comes back safe.

It is wonderful what you are doing! Putting poison out for cats is the most evil and inhuman thing I can imagine. I hope that person gets the punishment he deserves. In this life and/ or the next.

Sammy trying to get along with the indoor four; she is such a fine cat. Nice that she doesn't try to provoke, just wants to hang out and be friendly. Poor Splash, feeling intimidated enough to hiss at Sammy. But it is good that he feels he can protest his boundaries and stick up for himself. -- Hey, Ringo talking to LF, that's a good step, even if it's a rare thing.

The neighbor's tuxedo cat and the calico cat: If the tuxie is male, maybe they have "eloped," set up housekeeping / kitten-making together. (unless the tuxie is neutered, but he might still "date" or pair up. yes, I know cats don't typically stay together as mates, but occasionally, like Boo, the male may be around or help the mom cat.) -- Note: that friendly stray once disappeared for an extended period, months, and I thought he was gone, dead. I was SO surprised when he showed up one day and greeted me as if nothing had happened. Hah. And he's been around ever since. But yes, this is rare. If someone is doing TNR, but not checking about who in the neighborhood owns roaming indoor-outdoor cats, that's a concern, but wow, if someone is kidnapping cats (and dogs) that's very worrisome. I hope the tuxie and calico show up again. So many things can happen to a cat outdoors, this is a very good reason to keep them in. -- Very glad the seven have stayed in, even though it is quite a lot for Lady LF to manage. -- But good that the neighbors are checking with each other, so people know whose cats are whose. A collar and ID tag are a good idea even indoors, esp. with an apt. or if a cat might dart outside. (I keep a bell on mine only because with my vision, it helps me track where my cat is.) The friendly stray does not have a collar: he's very good at removing his, either in moving through tight spaces, or just his personal dislike for a collar. I had tried this, but it didn't work. But in lady LF's situation with the cats not getting out, no particular need for a collar. One other reason: When I fostered a semi-feral / semi-stray mom cat, all-black, and her five all-black kittens, whew, I needed a way to keep track of which kitten was which. Mom cat got a collar and tag, and the kittens got kitten-sized collar, hard to find, and I had to try makeshift collars for a while. -- There must be a better alternative for kittens. (I know Kitten Lady has tried a dab of nail polish or lipstick in a hard-to-reach spot or on an ear.) That mom cat was a bit spicy, but I hope she got a good home, as both the vet and I thought she had good potential as a house cat / pet rather than a full feral. Her kittens, of course, grew up knowing at least this human was friendly, so I hope they got good homes.

It's so sad when a cat goes missing! Not knowing where they are and how they're doing is the worst! Was the cat chipped? I hope it comes back or they find him somehow.

My 8 year old looks like Stella and vomits almost every morning no matter what I feed her. I keep mentioning it to her vet and just recently we took x-rays and the vet thinks she might have asthma. Is there any way to tell? Why would vomit indicate asthma? I just don't want to be swindled.
@LuckyFerals Жыл бұрын
Cats with asthma often make hacking or coughing sounds similar to a cat trying to expel a hairball. When they do that, it can sometimes induce vomiting. So there could be a link there. Respiratory issues can often be reversed with a change of diet. Specifically, getting a cat off of any food that contains dairy products (the worst thing for respiratory issues), corn, wheat, soy, and starches and feeding them a low carb meat based diet. Definitely getting them off of dry cat food. I highly suggest a book called "Your Cat" by Elizabeth Hodgkins DVM. She very clearly explains how diet relates to basically every health problem that a cat can have, and explains how to properly identify and purchase low carb foods. She has a section on asthma. Reading her book has completely changed the way that I think about cat food and I have seen respiratory improvements with my cats. Here's a link to the book on Amazon - amzn.to/3DKxTOs

I’m so sorry about your neighbor’s cat. It’s too dangerous to let pet cats free roam outside. Not only because of cars and coyotes, but because there are some evil people who do evil things to innocents.
