A kilt fitting at MacGregor and MacDuff in Glasgow, Scotland

Something a little bit different! My kilt maker MacGregor and MacDuff very kindly allowed me to film the fitting of my eighth….. yes I already own seven kilts!! …. at their store in Glasgow, Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
I wear a kilt every day and it gives me an enormous sense of pleasure and pride to wear a kilt. Best of all you don’t have to be Scottish to wear one!

Alas we MacEachen’s/MacEachern’s and the 100 odd other spellings are a branch of Clan MacDonald so we don’t have a ‘MacEachen’ tartan, but we do have the MacDonald of Clanranald which comes in about 8 versions. I one the hunting version. Very dashing! And best of all we are Lords of the Isles 🤴🏻

Family or clan tartan doesn’t really exist. They were mostly created between 1815 and 1850 by the victorians. Previous ‘tartans’ were regional rather than familial and tended to be based on the style and skills of the local weavers and what dyes were locally available. This tartan is just a continuation of the development of tartan as a fashion rather than as a family
