28 year old guy here and I've been wearing kilts for about a year now, almost daily and I've had nothing but positive reinforcement from everyone around me. Even strangers come up and chat with me about it. The freedom of movement is the top reason for me. As a tall, skinny guy nothing fits me better than a kilt, too. I wore my kilt up a mountain for a long-going tradition my school has where the entire school cancels classes to hike a mountain nearby. When I got to the top, a lot of people came up to me saying how impressed they were with how I was able to endure the windy summit (there was snow and ice at the top!) and that I made their day. I have my Scottish pride to thank for keeping me hyped and my kilt for trapping the heat.

Any true Scotsman wouldn't wear a kilt. Clan Montgomery from Ayrshire here and i have never wore a kilt and never will. A plaid is Scottish, so aye i'll wear that, not an English kilt. There is nothing stopping anyone to learn the history of the kilt.

My husband and I both have a Scottish history in our families (his mother was born in Glasgow and immigrated to Canada, and my great-grandfather immigrated from Aberdeenshire to Canada in the early 1900s) ... we are planning our 25th wedding anniversary next summer, where we will be renewing our vows; he will be dressed in a belted kilt (his family tartan) and I will be wearing an 18th century gown and airsaid. However, I recently bought one and I love it so much I've bought a spare. There is a whole different level of what is considered acceptable behavior for Scotsmen in a kilt. I've seen a number of Scottish wedding albums and in every one there is a picture of male attendees lined up for the camera and every one of the guys is holding up the front of his kilt and is flashing his "twig and berries"! Those photos are forever, so everyone who sees them is going to know what yer packin'. That young buck in a photo like that is informing his future grandchildren where they came from; literally! No one seems to mind and, in fact, it seems to be a fond tradition.

hey Jacob, I've worn a kilt for a total of thousands of hours in my life. the only time I've used underwear was on the first forward roll. it was actually a t-shirt wrapped like a loincloth because the first few takes revealed all! i had boxers in my bag just in case but couldnt bring myself to put them on

am an argentinean who wears kilts (you can count every single men who uses them in this country with the fingers of your hand) since our troublesome history with the english and the ever lasting thought that only women use skirts at first i was scared about it, then i realized my own reasons to wear a kilt: its fucking cool, so comfortable that i may not wear pants again, in this country if everyone wants to be really inclusive as a society then ill dress as i fucking want, and of course scots are cool. Surprisingly i got more cheers and good thoughts about it than people calling me names, they first ask me if am actually scotish or of scotish descent, when they can't understand that i use a kilt and i have two italian last names i just tell them that keeps me fresh. Either way, we need more kilts around the world and less insecure people. Saludos.

Don’t have to conceal carry a weapon with a kilt. Under UK law it’s illegal to carry a fixed blade knife over 2.5 inches without good reason, fortunately as a sgian dubh is considered part of “national dress” when worn with a kilt, you can happily carry a sharpened 3 inch fixed blade knife tucked into your sock perfectly legally whilst wearing a kilt!

I never gave it a thought that there are some very good reasons to ware a kilt. I just assumed it was because of Scottish history. I always thought the men waring kilts looked more manly and proud. I've watched many times men playing bagpipes in kilts. They always looked sharp.

The kilt is such a badass piece of clothing, I love wearing mine around and you get quite the number of looks from other people, especially if you're from England, it's quite funny. At least I can walk around without having to worry about chafing and with a nice breeze you get far less sweaty than in trousers! Lol
