Imagine playing such a beloved character that people name their children after you (which is a terrible idea, but still) only to find out the two morons in charge of the show did a complete 180 of the character and turned them into dragon hitler in the span of an episode.

Meh. Her character was always an entitled psychopath with a fetish for making other shit burn other shit, to do what she couldn't do herself. If she'd been fat and/or ugly, but had the exact same dialogue, delivered the exact same way, people would have been okay with how her story went. She's one of the few characters whose behaviour actually followed a completely understandable and believable arc. She's been threatening to burn innocent people alive every time she doesn't get her way, for 7 seasons!

2:16 on that note: can we talk about how silly it is, that bows are always the go to weapon for "weak" characters. ... that bullshit. Bows are THE strength weapon. The power of the bow directly scales with your back-muscle, a weak person cannot shoot a strong bow (let alone hold fully drawn like we see Igrid do, a task that would get a strongman to shake like a 3-year old putting a fork in a toaster)

Exactly! When archaeologists dig up known battlefield sites, they can actually tell which skeletons are those of the archers simply *from their arm and shoulder bones.* They're bigger on one side, and the hollows where the muscles would have been attached are way larger too, indicating they too would've been noticeably more bulked up.

Crossbows were popular because they actually were the “give to someone who barely knows what they’re doing” item because shit like an English longbow was a life long training requirement. Hell they even address this in the books when the thenns try and take castle black the newbies who have to fight get crossbows because they can’t draw a bow fast enough to be effective but Jon who’s been training his whole life at arms chooses a bow for his weapon

There is a great disperity between bows tho. What you say is definetly true for something like English longbows, but the "standard" bow is way smaller and requires much less force to use, like igrittes (iirc) or the bows the dothraki use to shot from horseback

Can I point out that Arya being amazing with every weapon is quite strange when you realise that she had only spent like two weeks getting trained on fighting in the dark with a stick but when she leaves Bravos she can fight Brienne one of the best fighters in the show like it's nothing, did we just not get shown her training with a sword, I mean she got trained a bit in season 1 and if I remember right, maybe a little with the Hound in season 4 and even then I could just be remembering things wrong.

Necro Time! This also ignores that fighting isn't the Faceless Man style. They aren't elite ninja warriors that count as one man armies... they are No One. Their training is in disguises and deception. The threat they pose isn't breaking into a keep at night, slaughtering a dozen knights, then stabbing their target through the heart... it's being able to seamlessly replace damn near anyone in the entire castle. And when they aren't stealing faces, they are masters at blending in to the background. Veteran FM, like Jaqen H'ghar, can even assassinate people so well that no one even suspects they were murdered. A drunk falls off the ramparts at night and a kennel master pushes his mutts too far.... is what everyone assumes. Instead, it was the new mercenary hire murdering people in the name of the Many-Faced God. Arya trained how to become a blind fishmonger that everyone either trusted or dismissed as harmless... only for her to drop some poison in a glass of wine and fade into obscurity. That's what makes the Faceless Men so damn scary. You never know if the courier that just arrived with urgent news and asked to stay the night to rest or your advisor for years is now an assassin gunning for your life. They'll kill you and disappear with no one ever figuring out what happened. Even that staff training was less about actual fighting ability and more about how to read an opponent. It's an overlapping lesson with the game of lies Arya and the Waif play. The goal isn't to be a badass warrior, it's about social skills and being fluid enough to think on your feet. It's about reading people and reacting to an ever changing situation.... while always staying ahead of your marks. While the FM doubtless train in numerous skills to help them assume new identities, the point is never to become the best at anything or become a one-assassin army. It's about deception and subterfuge being used to kill an unsuspecting opponent by the most efficient means possible... including tossing people off the walls or poison or drugging hounds to make them more aggressive. Which is kinda the dealio separating an ASSASSIN from a WARRIOR. So yeah, DnD fundamentally don't understand a god damn thing about the FM. Even H'ghar promoting Arya to full FM after she... failed all their core lessons as laughable. She can't let go of her identity, and thus, she can never become FACELESS. But Arya was clearly their favorite so they warped her into the AWESOME BADASS regardless of how little sense that makes. (Sorry for the rant >.>)

I've always known that what you do with the amount of time you have is just as important as how much time you have. Also, the students of the Martial Sciences that are as strong willed and determined as Arya Stark progress a lot faster, especially if they're properly motivated. Brienne held back while sparring with Arya Stark, the Assassin She Wolf and she was unfamiliar with Arya's fighting style and Arya's skill level. While travelling with the Brotherhood she was practicing archery, with the Hound practicing what she learned in Season 1; you underestimate Arya's character and her desire to avenge her family.

At least Walder deserved it. The wholesale slaughter of House Frey was on the same level of "I don't know whether this is more disturbing or completely fucking ridiculous" as Dany murdering thousands of innocents in King's Landing, though it is rarely called out as such. This video is one of the very few where I've seen it pointed out that probably most Freys, or at the very least *some* of them, actually had nothing to do with the Red Wedding and maybe didn't deserve to die horrible deaths.

I thought it was weird too. Only because Arya has been this wide-eyed little girl through most of the series, and after that she was still just a tiny teenagers with kind of asexual vibes. Also, Arya is a little sister to many characters, so when we identify with Jon Snow for example, we identify with his sisterly love for Arya and hoping she's safe. Also I felt a little uncomfortable reading the Mercy chapters where Arya seduces an older man. Just said that in case someone thinks I only have hangups with Maisie :D And I know Maisie is a woman now, but to me, for many years she was a little girl on TV. There is nothing wrong with that scene, it just that with child actors it takes a while getting used to them in a more adult settings. I would argue that it is NORMAL. Also, men who were horny for adult Emma Watson comes mind. They felt weird thinking someone who they saw grow up on screen, is sexy. So I don't quite understand this "she's 18, so you're crazy". Do they really not get it, or do they not think it's a valid reaction to feel little weird about it? If so, then why?

I had high hopes after this episode. And then episode three happened. Once I realized D&D are just plowing through a GRRM-approved checklist of endgame items on their way to a Star Warts contract, I appropriately lowered those expectations.

My only issue with your logic. "The Dragons might give us an edge in the field" is actually very accurate because of how paper thin their scales prove to be against iron bolts and magical ice that can only be shattered by valyrian steel. But in all seriousness, Davos made a valid point, as Viserion was killed by a single Ice Spear. They do not have a clue as to how many ice spears they actually have so even flying on the dragons is a risk, escpecially since the Night King has his own dragon now and also carries a spear. Granted, he missed and none of the other wightwalkers decided to throw their spears, but if a dragon can die that easily, then fighting against supernatural ice zombie warlords with a hate boner for Bran does come with a bunch of risks. That is like saying "This Tsar bomba might give us an advantage if the cargo plane carrying it doesn't get shot down" which isn't too far fetched since the Night King is apparently an Olympic gold medalist javelin thrower.

I don't remember the scene he talked about,in terms of the background music. But I know that there was a song ,that shireen sang in one of her first episodes, wich is originally a song from a creepy(but really interesting) character called patchface, who was not in the tv show, but only in the books. So he was not making something up,as long as that song was really playing in the background,at that scene. ✌

"Sure, the reaving, productive iron islands can be independent but the endless barren wasteland whose monarch I'm in love with? nOoOoOoOo!" Well, I mean - it's the North it's like the size of the literal rest of the 7 kingdoms while the Iron Islands are so barren most of those seamen don't know how to ride a horse. All she did was save herself another Greyjoy Rebellion in a few years, the North is COMPETITION though. Not saying that's what the writing was about but the North is infinitely more important than the that collection of bergs encrusted with seagull shit and sailor vomitus.

i see what you mean but my issue is a) she legit agrees to fight with the North against the Whitewalkers BEFORE Jon voluntarily bends the knee (for NO reason lol) and then b) what she says in the last episode of s7; she deadass says "I have not come to conquer the North" lmaoo so end of s7 she wants to just ally with the North and nothing more but then like 1 week later start of s8 she apparently wants to rule over the North and not just ally with them??...and even if Jon did bend the knee to her, why didn't she at least consider it? Didn't she say she was going to "break the wheel"...? I think Daenerys was drinking that amnesia water too, straight out of that Starbucks cup 😂 The best thing is that I don't even need to bring up s8 episode 6 where she randomly decides she wants to conquer - sorry I meant "liberate" the North as well as the whole world, she was already contradicting herself WAY before the show jumped off a cliff after s8 episode 3 lol 😂 D and D are just something else man😂

Episode two was surprisingly good. It did a great job at setting this melancholy but also heart warming mood and some of the dialog was actually well written (a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one). If only they keep this up till the final episode and don't brush over all the side plots like the did with the Yara rescue scene.

So this might seem like nitpicking but I absolutely HATE how they called back to the "die in my own bed" line from Season 1 in this episode, because of how they re-contextualised it. In Season 1, it seemed to be an awesomely witty comeback that Tyrion thought of at that moment, to a very specific question Tyrion was asked by the Mountain Clansmen. Part of what made it so awesome was the implication Tyrion was witty enough to come up with something like that so quickly. However, the call back to it in this episode changes it from a witty line Tyrion came up with, to something that Tyrion apparently said so often that Jaime was ABLE TO FINISH THE FUCKING LINE FOR HIM. Think about this for a second. On the one hand, it makes him seem dumber for not having come up with it on the spot, I mean when Shagga asked him how he wanted to die, Tyrion would be thinking "OMG THIS IS THE PERFECT USE FOR THIS LINE!" - but what scenario's would Tyrion have used this line to the point others would know it like some catchphrase? Did Tyrion constantly get asked by his family how he'd like to die? Maybe Cersei and Tywin were constantly threatening to kill him, I dunno, but it just seems weirdly specific. The sad thing is, it's obviously in there JUST as a nod to the original line, yet by putting it in there like this, they made it 10 times worse. It really shows how the writing was just awful. They couldn't even call back to previous lines without ruining what made them great in the first place.

@anjelica948

I always thought about that too. But there is precedent that you don’t have to be a full Targ in order to ride a dragon. During the Dance of the Dragons, several “dragonseeds” (Targ bastards), were able to bond and ride dragons. But more than likely, Dany suspected that because she was in love with Jon, that her influence on Rhaegal would keep him safe.

Davos didn't know about the other dragon, and they didn't know before to keep the dragons away from the White Walkers but they do now, and it's easy to avoid specific ground troops in a dragon. So yes it's still an absurd line. It would have been the perfect chance for Tormund to counter with "actually, they have a dragon too."
