I had just said out loud to myself "It's tiresome" when they were talking about letting them talk and not giving your opinion. I've found some people will Never listen to your opinion, because they are too Stubborn to believe they could be wrong. I also realized They lose out in this. They aren't able to have group discussions, which means they will never learn from the intelligence of people around them. Instead of knowledge and growth, they stay stuck in the same mindset.

Most people I have met are like this. That's why I like being alone. Social gatherings are difficult because everyone seems to need to be the smartest in the room. As a result, people begin to talk over each other, interrupt, correct each other, brag, etc. What this causes is an increased volume level in their voices. Quite frankly, it usually ends up being a loud and chaotic sh!t show and my ears start bleeding.

My stepdad reads a lot of internet articles. Just general random topics. I call him an "Article Expert." He is always so quick to jump in with his 2 cents about anything. Say you want a specific food or drink? Without missing a beat he'll say "your body is craving *insert ingredient or chemical component in that item.* Literally every time. He's even said "I read a lot because I like to know things." I'm less than half his age and have already accepted that I know basically nothing. And anything I know about, I only know a fraction of all there is to know about it. I can hear someone talk about WW2 firearms and not feel the need to throw in what I know unless they specifically say "I wonder what _______." I just can't stand when people read an article which is basically a summary of a topic and then feel like an encyclopedia. Plus, a lot of the things he's said, I've fact checked and they're just plain wrong. Told me submarines don't have white lights, only red. I asked my friend who is a submariner if that's the case and she said that's ridiculous. "Who's gonna see the light from us eating pizza in a sub 100 feet underwater in the middle of the ocean?" Is what she said. I mentioned the night vision that you retain with red lights and she brought up again, they're stuck in there. It's very rare to have red lights. I went back to my stepdad and told him, and says "You really went through all that to prove me wrong hahaha? " It's best to keep your mouth shut and look stupid than to open it and prove it. That's a good thing to keep in mind.

One of the biggest mistakes in my upbringing was how I was taught to be understanding and empathetic to the egotistical delusions of another. I say, give a "know-it-all" no quarter. If this know-it-all holds no real power over you, DO NOT give them a millimeter of ground. Don't say "I understand" or "I see where you're coming from"... No, it's time for the (metaphorical) full attack. Do not hold back; do not consider their feelings--for they care nothing for yours. Destroy their ego, as they wish to destroy yours with their own hubris. The creator of this video is far too kind toward these lecherous and predatory creatures.

My mom is one and she gets VERY competitive with other know it alls. Going on the offense and calling them know it alls and everything. Recently she told me that she knows my hair better than I do( she’s never had long hair in her life), she knows what food I like and don’t better than me, and she knows whats wrong with my husband’s legs. When I told her that I know for a fact that what she said was wrong with his legs wasn’t it, she started telling me “ok doctor “ when he hadn’t even mentioned his problem to her. But she knows better than both of us what it is.

I agree. I experience this at work, more often than I’d like to admit. The thing is, I’m well-traveled (I’m bicultural & biracial). I’ve worked every kind of random position bc I just end up learning so much about the world holistically that way. And I was given an amazing opportunity to manage a drive thru coffee shop, with intentions to open a 2nd location. Unfortunately, my enthusiasm and high self-standards, and prior experience working in corporate Japan translated into being a know-it-all.

My opinion about this particular vid (i loved your other one about KIA btw) is that it does not take into consideration the affect the KIA has on a spouse or partner. You can initially fall in love with a KIA cos he will be on his best behaviour but slowly his true colours will come out and like narcissists they can be very controlling and emotionally abusive. Noone wants to be treated like an idiot. Their behaviour has a strong negative impact on their partners cos its hidden. They guilt people when someone doesnt accept their controlling ways or doesnt tolerate being corrected. They like to look good in public so they act all friendly and charming and they mask their KIA ways. They wont correct strangers usually they wait until they find the right time that suits them to desplay their self imposed superiority. If i were to follow some of your suggestions, i would become a fully fledged victim of emotional abuse. Im not giving in to this abnoxious, self serving, arrogant, conceited, insensitive baboon. Doing that would be like staying in a physically violent relationship and saying you will just roll with the punches. No way. I refuse to be his victim, he plays the victim well enough himself. Those of us who know or are involved with a KIA really need to rebuild ourselves back up and just not put up with their nonsence anymore.

These suggestions are healthy and empathetic. I also think they mollycoddle know-it-alls to a certain extent. What's better for a know-it-all than a good public shaming? Nothing, I say. This video didn't promise any cures or silver bullets for know-it-alls so it's not really fair for me to be disappointed. I was looking for ways to shut know-it-alls down so they stop going on and on like they're the only one that matters. I wanted a know-it-all kill shot. I'm okay being shallow like that. ;)

Me too. If they catch me when I’m weak I get really shallow. I give them the business and goodness help them if anybody else is around. Unless it’s a customer of course. My boss would fire me🤣🤣🤣. And when you enlighten them on their total and complete lack of self awareness, they accuse you of being a know it all.

*le sigh* This is one thing that I hate about myself. I always give unsolicited advice, say things like "I knew it!" and "I know that" wayy to often. Sometimes I look down at others just because they're not as "good" as me at something, but sometimes I just want to share my experiences and help.

The difaniton of a know it all is first thing he knows your stupid if you think he is a know it all. A know it all knows no one knows it all but since everybody is stupid he could say duh and everyone thinks he's showing off. Now you think dirt is stupid because you walk all over it but where would you be without it. That should keep the world trying to figure that out for eternity.

Well you know how we got to be know it all just shut mouth shut and our ears open for a lot of our lives and absorb things from those of us around us knew a lot more than we did at the time Dumb people would learn a little bit humility and realize how a knowledgeable they aren’t maybe they could have more knowledge

A know it all is one who knows more than you and no one can know it all so there is no such thing. You were born then quickly learn to breath then pee then eat not professionally to begin with. While some never learn much more than that first day some progress to where they can by 40 to take care of themselves. Only one who knows it all is admitting he knows nothing. Now you say he thinks he knows it all which means he knows there are others that know more than he does. Does his knowing more about something make you less in any way. No because i bet you know more about a lot of other things he doesn't have a clue about. Let him know thanks you didn't know and you appreciate the info. You just won a friend for life. If someone tells you something let them understand it there way unless you can see someone being harmed by this info. Give your view about how you understand or handel and say thanks for the input. Another friend.
