A KTM 390 Adventure. Seat Concepts Seat Review

Hi Matt, I've had a similar experience where I bought and installed the "comfort" version seat by Seat Concepts on my KTM 390 Adv. Some good things about the seat are: (1) I installed a Tusk seat heater under the seat and this works great, (2) the comfort version is slightly wider and lower compared to the stock seat, and (3) I like the look and style. The only bad thing is that, in my opinion, the Seat Concepts seat is not significantly more comfortable compared to the stock seat. I've changed seats on other bikes and was totally glad I did so. My advice to other KTM 390 Adv owners is to upgrade other things (e.g., suspension, foot pegs, handlebar riser, saddlebags, tires, rims, auxiliary lights) before changing to a new seat. The Ergo Comfort Tall seat is awesome. Much more comfortable than stock. I love mine. Did 1656 miles in 6 days through the Continental Divide and couldve rode back home to TN on it. Highly recommend it

FYI to anyone watching this. Seat concepts now says right on this seats description its the softer of the two they sell. Dont think the comfort model means comfort. According to SC that is incorrect.

Hey Matt I grabbed the ergo one peice from Rottweiler. Great improvement. If you can't swap foam out because of gorilla glue and you can't find an ergo seat I'd be happy to send you my stock seat. You deserve it.

Very informative review. I am disappointed to hear it is not comfortable. I had the SC Low on my KLR650 and now on my CRF250L, and even those less foam filled version were comfortable . I have a 30" inseam and I can almost get both balls of my feet down from my seated position, so I expect you would almost flat foot the KTM bench seat. I have over 7K miles on the seat and it's been awesome. I have done a half dozen eight to ten hour days, and it allows me to move forward and back comfortably to relive the stress.

790R rider here, ordered one a few weeks ago for my bike. Not unhappy with the stock seat but have had the advantage of sitting on a mates comfort seat for the same bike, and it will be way better for longer distance. You also have the option to have higher or lower versions of the stock seats. They sell good products, 'you' made the wrong choice in your selection I think and selected a seat that is equally or less comfortable than the stock.

Very useful video. When you finished the seat I was very impressed. Then you summed it up. Unfortunate. And it's so well glued on that I guess your option to switch is now limited, or will require some surgery to remove that upgrade foam.

Great info, like to watch your videos, just a little constructive criticism- please mention the price for any upgrades in your vids! Also, less repetition of the same information or opinions= shorter vids and more likely people won’t just skip to the next vid. Also, I (and I’m sure many others) really want to have a vid that outlines all the mods you have done and the costs. Great vids, love watching, keep it up!

Yeah, I hear you. I noticed after I uploaded the video it was repetitive. I often forget to add price of mods. I am planning a big mod video to cover everything I have done and was is still left to do. Probably late in November, I have some other videos I need to finish first, and I need to get out riding. I installed the Comfort Seat (touring seat cover) and I found it a big improvement over stock. It is higher and wider, but at 6' that doesn't bother me much. Is the comfort seat super-comfortable? No, but the stock seat is such a disgrace that it puts the Seat Comforts way ahead. I have installed one of those inflatable seat pads on top, which makes things great on long rides. Seat comfort on motorcycles is an industry-wide problem unless you own a Harley.

Glad the comfort seated worked out. I installed the KTM power parts Ergo seat and it is night and day difference. They can make a good seat, they just want us to buy aftermarket.

Boy that's a ...... bummer! Sorry to hear it though, can you just buy the comfort one now and install that? Beat seat I ever had was an Ultimate Seat on my Victory but I doubt they make them for the KTM.

the ergo seat is very comfortable. is a little more hight but also is thinner, so you can move easier than the original seat . Greetings from Argentina!

Hey Matt, Does this seat make it feel less like you're sliding forward than the stock seat? That's my biggest complaint about the stock seat. I tried the 1 piece bench and it was the same way.

I got the seat concepts in the same stock size, not the wide one. Other than the cover being different I couldn't feel any difference - it's still very hard. Waste of money.

I'm struggling to find a decent seat for 790 (s) lot of the seats out favor the (r) I've spent lots of money on lots of seats. Still can't find that touring seat for the (s)

I just purchased the KTM Power Parts Ergo seat and it is awesome. Not sure if one exists for the 790.

@@advmatt yeah I saw that for the 790/890. It looks exactly like the stock seat for the (s) but with added heat feature. Edit: not exactly sure if it's the same seat or not

Im kind of shocked by how terrible the stock seat is. Its easily the hardest seat ive ever seen come on any bike in 35 years of riding.

It's pretty poor. I think this is on purpose because KTM has their own power parts seat to purchase and manufacturers try to keep the aftermarket business robust by offering subpar parts where they can save money and other brands can offer something better.

You should have asked your audience for advice before you made this purchase. I’m certain you would not have made this purchase with your audience advice. Sorry for the lack of value for your purchase. Just remember the seat most people rave about the most is seat concepts comfort seats.

I had several subscribers ask for a review of this seat before they made the purchase. I have used an SC seat on another bike and loved it. I expected to have a similar experience. Sadly I did not. Thanks for suggestion.
