Someone may have already explained this to you, but the kids’ drawings on the truck are proven method to promote safe driving. I forgot which company adopted this method first, but they found that if the driver’s child drew for their father (the driver) telling him to “drive safely,” and stuck the picture in their vehicle, they found rate of accidents drop. Incidentally, pasting these drawings on the side or back of the vehicle would catch the eye of other drivers as friendly reminders to drive safe as well. Even if it’s not drawn by your own child, it helps to remember that your safety isn’t only about you, but it affects the ones you love. Neat isn’t it?😊

The pancake spot is La Pullman Caffe, about 500 meters due north of Hamamatsu Station. The "hamburg" restaurant is Sawayaka. I couldn't tell for sure which location.

Isn't it great to find an unprepossessing town like Hamamatsu that has great people and underrated attractions? The dunes, the museums, the food, and the engaging spirit of the people make this town look like a destination.

I'm with Kyde on the castle debate. Unless it's a unique and interesting castle, such as Kumamoto Castle, Himeji Castle or Matsumoto Castle, then I am not too bothered about visiting the generic concrete castles that you can find across Japan (only exception being if it offers a great view)

Thanks for another fun video tour. First of all, Kyde gave me a big laugh with the unfastened belt moment. I mean a big out-loud laugh (because I can relate). Second, the centipede experience. I don't mind snakes or most insects, but if for some reason a spider decides to climb onto me, you will hear the most primal scream. I can't help it, the scream will happen, and the spider will be smashed or flung away with much vigor. Probably some stamping of feet, which I call skitter toes. It was very nice to laugh today. Thank you, Kyde & Eric.

I’ve met my Highschool pal living in Hamamatsu a few years ago and she took us to a really good udon place and I got to see a random man’s garden full of fish and bugs. Good times. And yesssss the castle!! Been there, so cool to see it againnnn and you guys going in! Japan’s bed bath & beyond!

11:30 Unagi is so delicious! My girlfriend and I both love it! Granted, it's some of the most expensive things we eat when in Japan, but it's so totally wort it! (Except the one time in November 2022 when they served us frozen unagi warmed-up with a microwave oven in a seafood restaurant in Shikoku. Not cool!)

It was difficult to bring up the eel artificially consistently until it becomes the adult fish from an egg (the cause is that the bait which a fingerling eats did not become clear and to be high-cost to make it), but by some researchers are leading it to the success little by little.

Eric, that pointing thing by the train conductor that you found funny? you must have heard of _shisa kanko_ , the method from ergonomics that has been statistically proven to work, reduces mistakes and therefore improves safety, which is obviously particularly important for things like public transport. It's _not for show_ (I use something like it when I'm trying to do something repetitive that has several steps & I want to make sure I'm not forgetting something) K, those japanese giant centipedes deliver nasty bites, lucky you caught sight of that one on time (damm, I would have made it pay for not asking for permission before hitching a ride... 👞) 🙏
@kurofune.uragabay Жыл бұрын
A little disappointed (😥) that you weren't all that chuffed about Hamamatsu Castle. The superstructure might be a modern replica/shell _but_ ... Ieyasu lived there for almost 2 decades before he became the big kahuna and started that little thing, you know, the _Tokugawa Shogunate_ ... From those windows you should be able to see some of the same landscape references he would have seen 4½ centuries ago

Any centipede that is larger than a centimetre and a half is some sort of freakish refugee from the carboniferous when insects ruled and meter long dragonflies darted among the trees.

i budgeted 90 minutes for kumamoto castle, finished it in 20 minutes. i budgeted 90 minutes for nagoya castle, finished it in 30 minutes. i was expecting non-museumy spaces inside these castles, but nagoya wasn't even explorable, only the first floor multi-room thing (unless i missed the entrance for the main event?). castles are cool from the outside but not really from the inside.

I love unagi, I ordered it by mistake and only realized what it was when I was halfway done. I don't know what I thought it was but it didn't taste like fish at all. I had intended to order unagi while in Japan so it was on the list of things I wanted to try, it was only unexpected as I picked a menu item from a smallish photo. It was really good, I liked it a lot. I know it's difficult to get past a psychological barrier of it being from a weird type of fish, but it really is delicious. I didn't even register that it was fish until I did the math and realized what it was so it's not a "fishy" taste at all.

Do not quote me on this but in Japan in a casual setting a woman can either sit the formal way of feet under her butt or with them next to her but with her knees still pointed forward. She should never sit criss cross applesauce. This may stem from the styles over the years usually having women in a skirt or dress. Men can sit either formal style with his feet under his butt or criss cross applesauce. Women could also say F-it and sit criss cross applesauce this is the year 2023.

There's a lot of great things about Japan. But those low tables/sitting basically on the floor is not one of them. I don't want to be that close to anybody's feet when I'm eating. Not even my own feet! Plus, wow, that looks uncomfortable even if you're not as tall as Eric. I have a bad back and sitting that way would be torment. I can't imagine how difficult that would be for elderly people.
