And we're off with reviews again and we're starting this week with the Progen GP1, which is on offer this week and is an absolutely fabulous car in GTA Online. So this is based on the McLaren F1 and I have actually reviewed this before but it's such a good car I'm going to review it again and it might not be a surprise that I'm reviewing this because if some of you saw my video on how to use a Rockstar editor you can get that video here and that will show you how these intro clips like this are made. So back to the car, why do I like it? Is there anything I don't like about it? And should you bother buying it this week? Well first of all the main thing I like is that it's based on the F1 which in my view I think is the greatest car ever made.
If you're talking about cars that do the very best with the technology of the time then this absolutely is the definitive hypercar. This is the car that paved the way for cars like the Veyron and the Chiron and all of the electric supercars that we're seeing at the moment. I honestly believe they all exist because this set the standard for what could be achieved and to a certain extent how much you could get away with charging.
So in the game I think they've done a good job of it but I also think they've done it dirty in one way. The main way I think they've done a good job of it is the looks. This thing is a really really good representation of the F1.
It looks exactly like it, it feels brilliant and everything about it is awesome and that's why this is probably the best place to test it. So going back to checking these tracks that I'm reviewing and this is one by JP which is his version of Silverstone. Now unfortunately I couldn't do the fancy shots on this one.
I have had a look into why and apparently it's more than likely something to do with the position on the track that this is located. It means they don't want you to see anything you shouldn't see that you might be able to do by moving the cameras in Rockstar Editor. Apparently, I don't know if that's true, but it is quite annoying.
But it doesn't matter for the sake of this because look at this track. This is the sort of quality of tracks that we are looking to use on our live streams and we really are hoping to get those running really really quickly for you. And again this is another car that on the track feels very different to on the road but not as different as the last one I tested this way.
It certainly feels better on the smooth track but with this being so well sorted in terms of handling and with it being really quite small and nimble it's not completely transformational when you put it on the track. It is definitely better as you would expect with no traffic, with no curbs, with no lampposts. It's an awful lot easier to have a lot more fun with it.
However, it's not as if this is totally useless on the road and then can only be used on the track because this is a great car for on the road as well. So I did say that I thought they'd done it dirty. Well that's only in regard to one particular part of the car and that is the top speed.
So if we can just finish this lap off and then we'll head round and we'll have a look at the top speed and we'll see what I mean. So here we are ready to test out the top speed. So what I do for this, if you're new to the channel, I have a mile that I've measured out which I drive as quickly as I can.
The little counter is dividing how far I've travelled by how long it's taken me to get there and when it levels out when I hit the one mile marker that will tell you what the average top speed this car managed to achieve was over the mile. And that's where I think they've done it dirty because as we come onto the finishing line here just under this sign 117.1. Now admittedly this is an old car it's sometimes easy to forget this car is almost 30 years old but this car set the world record for the top speed at the time of 240 miles per hour and later versions did over 250 miles an hour. Now by any measure that's not a slow car but the top speed in the game is barely even average.

This one is definitely on my radar this week, and I don't think I'd feel too bad about selling off one of my crappier supercars to swap it into the collection!

Oh Yes. There are loads of cars that have similar performance but look nowhere near as good. I'd say go for it.

0:50 💯 agree, and yeah it's the army base...won't let you do anything but gameplay view 😔 Id love them to bring the modern day version into game the GM T.50 🥰 amazing review and I absolutely love the merge from gameplay to circuit 🤘🤘

Ha, I recorded the track section 3 times as I thought I was doing something wrong!! The T.50 would be amazing, it really just looks like a refined and updated F1. I liked the merge to the track aswell, should be able to do a better one on the next track assuming I can control the camera. Just need to choose a track for the 811 now :)

@perengerin JP has a nurbergring....and a spa actually 👀.. T.50 with the fan tho!! Would love to have that fan...give it mental downforce but same speed or something (maybe up the speed abit, as you mention, top speed could be higher)

Oooh, Spa, I might need to turn rain on for that. You just know they'd replace that fan with a rocket booster though!!

No problem mate, thanks for creating the track, it's brilliant, really good fun track to drive. I tried to create it myself and failed miserably. I actually recorded the Ruston on it last week, but didn't get my arse in gear to get it edited before the offer week ended. I'm trying to pick tracks from you guys that suit the car, or it's history.

For anyone looking for a beautiful deep orange color to suit this car, I have to suggest a Sienna Brown with a Bright Orange Pearlescent, don’t knock it til you try it, this was found out of sheer desperation for a fittingly deep metallic orange, you could even go as bright as to use a yellow pearlescent.

This felt important to share as I had a similar issue finding that deep Oem metallic orange for the XA-21 a few weeks back, having to opt for a Sunrise Orange base instead.

Thanks. If that gives the orange I'm thinking of then this is an awesome tip. I'll try this later. The red I picked for this one was supposed to be similar to the F1 owned by Rowan Atkinson 😁. Thanks for sharing.

Ah, the McLaren F1 (misty-eyed sigh). I used to work opposite the old McLaren factory where they made those. It was always special seeing one out testing on the roads. Bit underwhelming in the game IMHO. And the driver's in the wrong place! 😂

I've only seen one on the road, and that was as I arrived at silverstone for the F1 years ago. And yeah, It really needs a bit more top end and the acceleration should be more ferocious, but I'll give it a pass because it looks good. Centre driving would have been awesome, I'd have been happy with it being a single seater if having rear seats in a 2 door would have caused problems with animations etc.
