Just a Few Acres Farm

Just a Few Acres Farm

Күн бұрын

Today we have received a late summer surprise on the farm! A Dexter calf was born well after our normal calving season has ended. Also today, we have to begin the monumental task of sorting our herd for cattle breeding season.
Note:
-We do not offer farm tours or accept visitors
-We do not sell from the farm
-We do not ship our farm's products
-We do not sell live animals

I was proud to be a farmer's daughter! I asked my dad once why he wanted to be a farmer. He replied, "I guess dirt runs through my veins!" I admire your wife and her willingness to be right by your side during everyday as a busy farm wife! Thank you for sharing the very real challenge of farming and your possessing such an affinity for good humor! You have brought me many hours of precious memories! 👍😂🇺🇸💜

I got a 110 gallon water trough and it takes all I have to flip it over when it’s full. Takes too long to drain with 1/2 plug. Going to start using the bucket trick! Work smarter not harder! At 38 years old I ain’t getting no younger!!! Thanks Pete for the bucket tip!

Pete, at the Rough and Tumble flea market this year, I had a hand held cow bell with a handle I was selling, and some of those who enquired about the bell, I asked why cows typically wore bells. Most didn't know, but I told them that it's because their horns don't work...

As a young man I grew up on my uncles farm. We raised 1000 head of hogs a year, farrow to finish, and fed out the calves from 100 head of stock cows. It little poop on your sleeve was nothing to worry about.

Watching the layers scrambling to get out the hen house was a LOL moment even though I've seen it many times before. Interesting at the end of the video I could mentally recall the smells of my farm based childhood and I am 74 years old. The power of the human brain.

Congratulations Pete on a new calf and 175k! The farmer I work for made me into a hay-man Sunday. I was stacking, once he taught me how, one was driving the tractor and then helping the other once stopped to throw hay to me. He had already cut, dried, made windrows, and baled them. I wasn't counting, but we only needed 1 hay wagon to stack them in a modified pyramid. It was cool seeing how when properly staked, with each moving with those above, below, and horizontal, they moved together as the wagon responded to the terrain. He isn't feeding anything with them, just selling them when he sells his fall mums. Take care Pete

Hi Pete, my husband has been watching your videos for awhile now and has gotten me started too. We have a small farm in Louisiana and today we sorted our calves and took them to the sale barn. It's been a busy couple of weeks, we baled hay (square bales) for our horse customers....not a dry thread on us! The humidity here is terrible!! By the way we use those beautiful GREEN tractors you love so much....haha. Love watching your videos and congrats on the 175k subscribers. Thanks for your concern for our great state. God Bless

There are a few small time farmers around that do quality meat like on this farm, I know Braelands Beef and Lamb are very good and they are just beyond the metro regional border of Melbourne's Western Suburbs. You are 100% correct though, this guy is in the top section of animal husbandry and all round care for his meat. It's guys like this that really show many others that the meat industry doesn't have to be how it's often portrayed, and the more farms that operate like "just a few acres" the better quality meat and the happier the animals would be. If I was a meat cow I'd prefer to be on this farm, 1 bad day and every other day a good day is exactly how it should be. I can't praise this guy enough!!!
