I can't believe what I just saw! Such a dramatic amputation yet a fairly subtle result. Impressive as always.

Hi Bjorn, you improved this pine immensely. I do see that there's an ugly grafted area on the trunk that was previously hidden by the low branch and is now much more visible. What are your thoughts on that?

Have you consider telling about the age of the tree’s that you are presenting ? That has always been a curiosity for me when I look at a bonsai tree. The endurance amazes me. Anyhow, I tough that could be a fun fact to be added ☺️ Beautiful garden 💚

It's funny you know, there are no trees that look like that in nature. Most bonsai imo look like trees we would draw on a piece of paper, or we see in cartoons/animation. I've never seen a tree like these bonsai in nature. Go look and see for yourself, take a drive anywhere and you'll se most trees are scraggly uneven natural chaos masterpieces, or they will often be just straight up symmetrical beauties as in the case of some pines and conifers.
@jmsdaddyo2 жыл бұрын
There are different styles. In Japanese gardens you’ll see plants inspired by clouds or mountains and other things in nature, not necessarily trees. This one is more traditional like that. Walter Pall or Ryan Neil do more natural bonsai where it’s supposed to look like an ancient tree. In the US we’re lucky to have Eisei-en and Mirai to show the whole range of what you can do.
