This was a very interesting video. Zindoga 🐘 will not back down from Mambo 🐘. I saw that it was Somopane 🐘 who trained Zindoga 🐘. That was very interesting while Mambo 🐘 was trained by some of the cows. Mischievous Mambo 🐘 will do anything to rise up in the ranks of the HERD. Zindoga has already laid his mark on Pisa. He is not going to let Mischievous Mambo get in the way of this blossoming romance. My take is that Pisa is quite charmed when she sees the two boys go at it. She relishes the attention after having been kind of off by herself for a while. Mambo in his heart knows that Zindoga loves Pisa. Soon enough he may back off once the Marula Trees bear fruit... I sure hope he doesn't set his sights on my Sweet and Beautiful Timisa! LOL ;)

This is the ellie version of martial arts, and Mambo and Zindoga have truly demonstrated said sport strongly. They are youngsters who have a lot of energy to burn, and they feel that they have a lot to prove, although Mambo is mostly the instigator of the sparring sessions. And when it was mentioned that spars seldom happen between two females, I immediately thought of Timi and Khanyisa who seem to have mimicked their older brothers' antics. Thank you for sharing this action-packed video today. This must be a strange situation for young bulls to handle, since in the wild, they would leave the herd. Hete, they have to find their place in the hierarchy under different circumstances. It would be interesting to know whether this has an influence on their general behaviour, whether it increases or decreases aggression.

I love seeing more of Mambo and Zindoga sparring. I always thought it had elements of playing, getting rid of excess energy and testing each other. I also love the respect they show Fishan as an older bull knowing he isn't as physically gifted as they are. A truly beautifully put together herd always looking out for others. ❤❤

Why do they spar? For the same reason my 4 sons did. To establish dominance, of course! It was crazy during those teenage years. My oldest was 5 years older than the youngest, so they were all teenagers at the same time. I find it so touching that the bulls recognize Fishan's injury and take it easier on him. Elephants are remarkably empathetic and compassionate.

It's amazing how similar the behaviours of young elephants and human teenagers can be! Sparring to establish dominance is a natural part of growing up for both. Your household must have been quite lively with all those teenage boys!

I've noticed that it appears that Sebakwe has become a mentor for Mambo. Numerous times we've seen Mambo sparring with Sebakwe. It's quite obvious that Sebakwe is the much larger & stronger bull so it has to be a teaching experience for Mambo.
