A Lesson in CB Radio: Part 1

Many of you youngins probably have no idea what a CB or Ham Radio is. Quiz time! What's "CB" stand for? CITIZEN BAND. Ever watch Smokey and the Bandit? Probably not since you're a youngin. Ever see a trucker chatting away into some hand held mic connected to a wire? Probably not. But let me tell you, there's a lot of life lessons to be learned on the CB Radio. Here is part one in my CB overview.

@@JakeInGeorgia just started in this cb thing 😅 (finland!) bought an magstar 27 and old antennas +major 120 (22ch) and today got the stuff tho put it on car. gonna ve in few weeks and im gonna be listening stuff too with this. btw in finland there is not that much slang when people talking. usually old people talking. (ive listened on side with friend)

That's really cool! Let me know how it works out for you. Mine is a pretty basic set up. Cobra 29 LTD classic radio with Firestik Fire Ring coax. I mounted the radio to the top of my dash and ran the coax from the back of the radio, under my dash and out my trucks firewall to the CB mount on my fender. The power supply wires also run out the back of the radio, under my dash, out the firewall and directly to my battery in my engine bay. The antenna I am using is a 5' Firestik with an adjustable tip. It works perfect for my needs. My radio isn't peaked at all. The mic in this video is the basic Cobra mic but I have since upgraded to a Cobra Power Mic. I am thinking about adding a PA horn in the future just for fun.

I like the radio slang. It is fun to learn and use. It's almost like learning a different language lol.

@@JakeInGeorgia when my dad comes back i will put it on his car and ill tell you how it works 😅 here is lots of hills so the range will not be that long like in texas for example :D
