A pretty good forgiveness story is Evander Holyfield and Mike Tyson. In 1997, they fought, and during the fight, Tyson bit off a part of Holyfield’s ear - twice! In an interview with Joe Rogan, Holyfield talks about the experience of being bitten, and forgiveness. Rogan asked him how long it took him to forgive Tyson. Holyfied replied by talking about being in the locker room after the fight. His amazing words to the people around him in the locker room who were pissed off about Tyson biting his ear: “Did he bite you? No, he bit me. Now I’m gonna forgive him. And you know what? Y’all are gonna have to forgive him too”. Tyson had not even apologized. That’s real strength, and wisdom. The pain of that incident died with the choice to forgive. There was no vengeance in Holyfield’s heart after the fact, he was free. Holyfied demonstrated such incredible strength of character (as Joe’s reaction to his locker room account reflects) and a spiritual lesson that we all would benefit from following. Forgive, and be free. If you can’t forgive somebody, they are not the one that suffers. You do. May the strength of this kind of forgiveness come into the hearts of all of us that we may be free of grievances we hold. Amen.

I needed to hear this. I’ve been so angry the last couple of years. I’ve been watching the news and other media outlets that have reported crimes and injustices, and they’ve given me an outlet for that anger to feed. I’ve been angry and cussing people who are in need of Jesus. And I’ve been harsh and critical of other things to lately. I’ve had chronic pain and medical problems and no medication has helped. I’ve repressed my anger for years thinking i shouldn’t be angry that other people have it worse. But for awhile I’ve given into the anger and felt good about it. But I shouldn’t take satisfaction in the pain of another. It doesn’t help anything or anyone. It hurts them and myself. It hurts God to see me angry with his children. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry Jesus. I’ll forgive and show mercy. As I would hope someone would show me mercy when I hurt them.
@MrsCambers12 күн бұрын
I have struggled with anger as well. It’s a tough one. I never bottled it up. Just now I cry about it after and ask God to forgive me and help me the next time I feel it bubbling up. I have a couple friends who’ve been through a lot the past year or so. The situation they were in is infuriating. The people responsible I felt hateful. But I always end up in tears feeling terrible about it. People who hurt others are simply lost. I’ve had stuff happen to me personally. It’s a process. Sanctification and the refiners fire is not an immediate thing. Works in progress.

Good to know I wasn't the only one going through this. Watching the news and seeing all the injustices going on in the world without accountability to the perpetrators was something that was eating away at me for a while. One day while asking God for forgiveness for a wrong that I committed, He gently asked me, "Why is it that when it comes to your sins you want mercy, but when it comes to their sins you want justice?" Wow! God really has a way of helping people put things in perspective. I was never the same after that.

Sister do you read the Scriptures? Start in the Gospel of John "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was "with" God and the Word was God." 📖 v14 "And the Word became flesh and dwelt amongst us...." Jesus is God in the flesh ...but not the Father. God is Triune. A Trinity. When l was Born Again...all that angry rage disappeared. 🙏
@MrsCambers7 күн бұрын
@@michellecheriekjv4115 not sure which of us you are referring to but why are you assuming because everything went away for you that automatically happens for everyone? That’s not the case. Sometimes we are meant to learn patience and self control. Some are blessed to have it just disappear. We all struggle with something. I know I believe in the triune God I can’t speak for the other here.

But I love how this was as important to Matthew as it was for his own parents to accept him and his apology.💯💯❤️❤️👍🏽👍🏽. I love how Peter didn’t accept the apology at first. It took a long talk with Jesus to get Peter to remember, open up and then accept the apology for its genuine core.❤️💯

"If someone has done you wrong, do not repay him with a wrong. Try to do what everyone considers to be good. Do everything possible on your part to live in peace with everybody." - Roman's 12:17,18. That doesn't always mean that forgiveness is possible with certain people, and depending on the severity of the wrong, that might be very well understandable, and you have to respect if the person you have wronged chooses not to forgive you, and even they do forgive you that doesn't mean they're obligated to continue in association with you, and again you have to respect that, even if you wish it were not that way, and by doing so you are demonstrating emotional maturity. The point is that since you cannot control the choices and actions of others, focus on doing your part the very best you know how, and then let the chips fall where they may.

These are sum of the funniest scenes in the story! 1) It seems "Matthew" is the only one that can say "odd" things to Quintus and still live 😮😅😊🎉🎉 Gaius realizes the "fragile" situation and quickly goes done on a knee to "pray" for survival." And someone please tell me that they heard the off-screen "sound" of the soldier's sword being unsheathed and then sheathed when Matthew made the distinction between being a Roman and a Jew...2) when Simon [Peter] asked Jesus- when saying to Matthew "Follow me"- "whoa whoa whoa; what are you doing!?"....classic humor 😂😂😂😅😊

This common experience is so painful. I found healing from others’ sins against me by seeking the Lord for comfort. The Holy Spirit does a wonderful work, and this process makes the Lord so real to anyone seeking Him for freedom from this pain. Go to Him for all the healing comfort you need. Maybe you’ve never experienced much comfort or any at all, but you can get all that your heart desires from Him. 21:15
@sharonfarley26474 күн бұрын
@@LauraBistline I truly appreciate your words of comfort but like Thomas in episode 6Maybe there is another layer to forgivenes of season four, I'm still hurting and seemingly unable to forget the hurt. Therefore your words, tho intended for comfort, are percieved as a telling of what is known & obvious. Maybe there is another layer to forgivenesS THAT i AM NOT AWARE OF.
