A Letter To My Horse

Dear pony, You gave me more confidence than you took from me. You were the first rear, buck, bolt, refusal, kick and bite I ever experienced. But, my friend, you were my first groom, pony, jump, bareback and my first real bond. You gave me the most smiles in the most difficult times, whether I was sitting next to you while you were grazing while I was crying, or I was too depressed to get out of bed. The videos and photos people sent of you kept me smiling. And kept me going when I came so close to ending it all. I came in to brush you this one time, and you saw the cuts. You stood there, gazing deep into my eyes. It was that which made me stop. You gave me the hardest rides. But also so many of the best. People would see you and be jealous. So many people asked to ride you, so many offers for a sale and so many people wanted to lease or share you. But did I take any offers? No. Do you want to know why my dear puzzle? Because you taught me so much, and helped me through so much. You brought the huge smile onto my face when I thought about tomorrow, unlike the tears it used to bring. I love you so much. I have my life to thank you for, without you I would have taken it by now. My parents are so pleased with you. They always wanted me to have you. Remember that time when I was 12 and said I was going to keep you forever? I'm afraid forever is approaching. Your time is running out, isn't it boy. You were the best first pony. Not because you did what you were told, but because you didn't. You always rebeled against what I told you to do. That taught me more than any other horse could. I'm going to miss you puz. Goodbye to my best friend, my beautiful love, my noble stead, my life support. Goodbye my pony. I will always love you, and you shall always be in my heart. You were there when I needed you, but when you pass I'm going to need you the most. You were and always will be my heart horse. No other horse will replace you; not rebel, cali, bella or Cadbury.

@@ambersaunders1261 we sent him to a lease home for a few months and he came back lame so I sent for the vet because he was getting worse and worse and we discovered he had laminitis, after months of treatment, he wasn't getting better so the vet decided that the kindest thing we could do was put him to sleep.

Dear, Millie (my beautiful horse) thank you. You have made my life worth living. All the best laughs, falls, jumps, wins, crys, and broken bones have made me love you even more. I remember when I bought you. You were broken and beaten. When I first looked at you. I saw hope, I saw love. While the owner saw a broken down horse that could barely walk and eat. I remember our first ride. You weren't in very good shape... But you tried your best. A few years later you can finally walk and eat better. I believe in you my love. You will always be in my heart. Dear Leroy, Even though you were only a lesson horse and I won’t get to keep you, you were the best horse I ever rode. Everyone told me that you were mean and bit and so many people have fallen off you, I knew that if I just gave you some time you would be the best horse ever. I remember when I first rode you, I was pretty scared because of the things I heard but I gave you a chance. There were times where I almost gave up on you but now that I look back I am so glad I didn’t. You were my first trot, canter, and the first buck that I ever rode. I remember when I asked if I could ride you for camp, everyone looked at me as if I was crazy but I knew the horse you really were. You were misunderstood and nobody ever gave you a chance. Leroy, you will always and forever be my boy.

Although you only have one eye you can still see every step we took together to get were today. Thank You to Miracle After my first bolts , refusals , falls , groom , and the major accident that almost killed me thank you. I have grown with you so much and I don’t know what o will do without you. You have been my horse from the start of my riding at 3 1/2 and have taught me life lessons. You have made me smile laugh and feel like I am worth it. When I could not do it anymore you pushed me. You knew what I could do and knew what I couldn’t. If a jump was too high for me you refused. If something was too dangerous you stopped. Everybody told me I can’t do it but you pushed. You were my first pony and you always will be. I can’t ask for a better friend. I have learned so much from you as not only a role model but as a friend. I will never forget what you have done for me and I don’t know how to repay you. It’s a Miracle I am alive and it’s only because of you. When the major accident happened you refused the jump that you knew was to tall for me. I fell off on the refusal but still hit my head don the jump and was rushed to the hospital. But if you didn’t refused I don’t know if I would still be alive today. Dear Anni, Thank you for being my horse, best friend, my life, my experience, the best thing that's happened to me, the only reason I've gotten as far as a have, the only reason I got up when I fell, but most importantly...my everything 💕 SO glad I get to show at states with you, but so sad I can't show you next year. To all the horses I've ridden... it's been a journey, all of you taught me lessons I would never forget but I especially want to thank Brownie.. you are the first horse I've ever ridden, you hold a special place in my heart and as I start to move on without you just know you're always here with me. Sometimes it was hard sometimes it was sad and sometimes it was the most amazing time of my life. But you'll always be close to me, you can't forget it. I know you're coming up in age and I'm thankful for the time we had. I must say to the first pony I rode thank you as you gave me confidence and you know why because even if you bolted on my first lesson or almost had me off you listened, you listened to me say stop and that,that was what gave me confidence even if you stood on my foot almost broke if you refused to even walk if you were always stubborn but you gave me confidence. I know I have only ridden for a year but since that very first day I have come a long way but since in that year I moved barns I don't see you anymore I said this to you now as I never did when I left. Dear Rookie, I am so grateful that you were my very first horse to ride. I truly believe that I could not be in the place I am in the equestrian sport. You were my first fall, groom, trot, canter, jump, show, and so much more! You were the horse that if I fell off you would stop in your track and look down to make sure I was okay. Without you I don’t know if I would be the strong, responsible and horse loving person I am today 😆. I really think I may have not still be in this sport if I never had you. Even though you were big and tall and most of the girls were scared to fall off you I wanted to stay on you and never leave you, I am so happy I didn’t. And unfortunately I am at a new barn and I don’t know where you are today but I truly love and care for you! I love you sooooooo much! And I wouldn’t be the strong equestrian I am today! Pfft it’s not like I’m crying or anything. I love my horse so god damn much I’d die for him. He puts up with everything I do. He’s a saint. And he’s only 9. I can’t believe I got lucky enough to own him. He tries his heart out for me, I don’t deserve that. Everything he does he does with passion. I don’t understand how a horse can be so perfect. I’m getting emotional here because I love Puppet so freaking much but my horse is the only thing in this world I can trust with everything. He might not be able to jump over 3’6, but he’s my love and my best friend and my soulmate and my partner in crime. I’ve owned 6 horses in my life, but Puppet is the only horse that has completely trusted me and let me trust him. He’s the only horse that let me kiss him on the nose and put bows in his mane and omg I’m like balling because I love my horse so much hahaha

(I don’t have a horse yet but still) To Sassy, the first horse I have ridden. My first time riding I was nervous , but the spark and love in your eyes overcame those nerves faster than thanos could snap. You may not always listen, you may have bucked people off, but you will always be my favourite horse in the barn.... shhh don’t tell... the cuddles and obedience helped me through the riding lesson and most importantly the love. It’s not the perfection of you it’s the faults. Without them I wouldn’t know you as well as I do today. You are lazy, stubborn, and sassy (haha get it?). Those things helped me to see who you are and helped me ride better. I am planning on taking more riding lessons and I hope I ride you. I promise if they don’t assign me to you I will visit you every break I get. You aren’t the tallest, aren’t the fastest, aren’t the most beautiful horses in the world to other people’s eyes..... but to me you are perfect. I know God assigned you to me for a reason. I love my horse for every time when that little bugger rolled in his stall and despite wearing blanket was of course yellow and ruined his braided mane. Just like 30 minuter before his class. Also love how he is grey just to make me cry in agony and wash him 20 times a day. Of course I'm just joking and I love my little boy and I'd never want another horse in his place.

Dear Rollie, Hey buddy, I miss you a lot. Your soft face and fluffy fur, your sweet sweet eyes and your amount of stubbornness. You always managed to fill me with happiness and hope. You made me the rider I am today. You pushed me to work for what I have, for me to continue riding, to continue with other horses when I felt like giving up. 9 years ago when I got that call that you were sold- my heart broke. I cried for 3 days straight until there were barely any tears left to cry. I know I was probably not the best person- I was really young then. You made me everything I am today. I do not know where you are, or if you're even still on this earth but I want to thank you. Thank you for every single thing you've ever done for me. You are a symbol of change to me , you leaving was the thing that affected me the most. But I thank you for everything you've done for me. I am now jumping around 3" on a mare named Diva , she is sassy and not the best mare to have - but I love her . And I promise to love each horse in my future and protect them just as you did to me and just as you taught me to do so. Rest easy boy 💕
