Avoiding torps is a lot more difficult than many realise. i couple of days ago i had a 1vs2, i was in my pvp vette, fighting two guys in a wing both with torps. one was dukeonsteroids in a cobra V, the other in a fdl, forgot the name tough. They both started the fight with dropping a single torp on me and started shooting, so boost away from the torp, stay above its speed while flying away from it and engage the two guys in fa off. Every few min they dropped another volley of torps, so there was no turning around and boosting into the opposite direction. i didnt get much dmg done, but neither did the two guys. with all the torps they had loaded they did not have enough offensive power to overcome my vette. in the end we parted ways, they both ran out of ammo.

an fdl with torps wtf lol. yeah, so this can be a good strategy, especially if you reverse this in a 1 v X situation. you get a single torp off on both players, they can either kite, or fight. it can be hard to do both. i also try an always double back in the direction of the torpedos, keep them between my opponent and i. the issue with torps on a cobra mkv, is that you need 5 minimum to get a size 7 and 8 reinforced prismo. 4 is ok for size 6 and down. them both running torps was def enough though lol. killing after torps can be a long and arduous process because of dps limitations...good on you cmdr for flying dangerously

Two part question. Is point defense a concern, given the limited number of torpes you can get in a volley, and would packhounds help draw fire?

Great question. Point defense is alright, but quite often they are shot in twos, and have pqckhounds or missisles accompanied with them. Point defense doesn’t have a priority targeting system, so yes it will target other missiles first. When trying to land torps on someone in a station or in front of a station when you’re not supposed to, if you launch oackhounds at the same time, station defenses can’t shoot them all down. I used to use packhounds but now prefer seeker drags for punching out drives. Packhounds can make it confusing and the hide the torps on the radar screen Just to make sure I answered your question about point defense, it will only really help in pve imo. I’m always shooting missisles with torps, if I see someone has a point defense, I will shoot torps from closer and always make sure missiles are in air drawing fire.

torps deffo a zero skill weapon. easily avoided, makes for boring fights, cause you have to run away and once the torp user failed to produce results or at least a fun fight torp user leave cause no ammo. So either you lose to a zero skill weapon or get left alone cause torp user run. just get gud, no need for cheesy shit.

if you invited me to 1v1 or a wing fight i wouldnt bring torps, im a sensible human being 😀. for open play, this ship and play style is very slippery, allows me to 1v x and still be dangerous. landing torps is like a drug, especially when i land them on pilots who are trying to dodge. its not 100% unskilled, even though much of it may be. getting them to hit in proximity whit a 3 second fuse is tough especially on an aware opponent. bridging the gap between the skilled and the unskilled i feel is a good thing! some of the pilots i killed were really good, better than me. o7, fly dangerous cmdr
