​@@razan3304 Pixel has "Rules" in the settings. I think Samsung has "Bixby Routines". They both pale in comparison to a third party app called "Tasker" on the Play Store. Tasker makes Apple Shortcuts look stupid.

Be careful if you use KZbin premium and turn off your phone while a video was playing. I just did this and when you unlock and go back into YT the screen lock is toggled on, so it will be the opposite of what you want (untoggling when you leave). So just be mindful of that if you use YT in the background a lot and the phone is off

I switched from my pixel to the iPhone 15 pro max earlier this year and this issue was one of my biggest gripes. Although I do give thanks for the useful tip, it’s silly that apple can’t just take the android route and have the icon to switch orientation when it’s locked, instead you have to take these extra added steps to achieve the same results like you can natively in android.

You have to set a separate automation to switch the portrait lock BACK to normal setting, when exiting the app too. If not, it won’t automatically do it. Hope that helps

can you keep the orientation lock off but rotate the screen with a press of a button when you turn the phone horizontally? I mean when you just want the KZbin or gallery app to be locked on landscape so they would stay like that even when you lie down on one side. is there a button that would appear when it detects that the phone is on landscape to switch and lock it in that orientation?

But that only works as long as you don't change orientation lock manually, then it's reversed until you change it manually again.

@@maheAT now you’re just trying to save it… Following your own logic then; yes the automation could fail, the same way as literally any other app could do, or the same way your device’s battery could fail and suddenly die; or the device itself could malfunction, or overheat, or some of its components could explode. Or the ISS could unexpectedly get hit by an asteroid or by space debris and (somehow) collapse and fall into Earth and kill thousands or millions of people. Like, what is exactly your point here?…

It's annoying, specially when using the phone lying down. I don't like using messaging apps in landscape, for example. So, many times I'm watching something on youtube landscape and when I receive a text and want to respond it, the messaging app will open landscaped. With this, it stops happening.

Doesn't work for me. It never turns it back on even if I change it to 2 separate automations OK it works but only if I immediately completely close the app. Sending it to the background and even closing it after sending it to the background doesn't trigger it

Or, in accessabilities add bactap to change orientation, so you are not glued to default orientation. Want landscape - double tap on the back of the phone. Want back to portrait - just double tap again.

Samsung has this feature where it detects if your phone is in landscape and it shows a small rotate button on the lower portion of the screen if you like to unlock the orientation.
