Years ago I used to enjoy my photgraphy. The care and the detail, the warmth and then it was gone. Replaced by digital which for many years took the soul the very soul out of photography. For sure all perfect pictures even with the mobile but that gentle moment of creation was gone. Invested in digital cameras some not even touched gathering dust. As the decades lifting the illumination and the light coming back in with the thanks of as few gimmicks as possible as I do not want nor need them. Just shutter and aperture and film Iso and can breathe and enjoy again. Thank you thank you thank you

Hi Thorsten! I have just came across of one of your articles about the Leica Digilux 2 which by the way was AMAZING!!! and that was the start of my new journey in the world of photography. I decided to get the Leica Digilux 2 as my first camera to give it some shots. Thank you so much for sharing with us your experiences and knowledges in the world of photography. I can't thank you enough. I also like your approach on things there's no BS or whatsoever in your videos you seem always to get straight to you point without sparkles and artifices and I truly appreciate!

Love the video. One of many reason why I enjoy travelling to my mum so much, we spend all day taking photos. She has lost her strength to shot using anything but her mobile but her viewpoint can never be taken away - it is spectacular and she sure knows how to catch it. Thanks for all the inspiration and for refreshing my memory. Greetings from Sweden

Second time I view this short documentary and I can say that I enjoyed it. I agree with you about Leica being the simplest and most efficient tool for photography, and mostly about the aim of photography when shooting people, "making them look beautiful" simply as they are in their daily life. When people ask me about what style to adopt to make pictures look great, all I can say is "Be yourself everyone else is already taken" Thank you for sharing your story and experiences. Karol.

I don’t know if this channel is actually thorsten’s but if it is, I have to say this. Thorsten this was a truly inspirational video. The moment that resonated especially with me was when you described how people think their photograph isn’t good enough or someone can do better - and instead we should try to think positively and say that what we capture is our original and nobody can take that away. I’ve been shooting film for a year or so now and this has given me more confidence in my photos.

I didn`t search for this Video, it just popped up in my recommendations. I started watching, and was just about to quit. But then you start at 5:57 Minutes to just blow my mind. It may not be that I THINK someone would have taken a better picture than me, right here and now. But it rather may be more of a subtle subconscious feeling, which slowly creeps in your mind and settles there. And so your are never satisfied with your pictures, even bevore looking on them on screen or printed. So,.. you see them, and you are not happy. I will try to overcome this. THANK YOU.

Thorsten very evocative video and yes it is inspirational. Nice relaxed style and I imagine one of your workshops in a beautiful city like Rome would teach me a lot. The problem is that it is obviously geared to digital (for good reason as time is of the essence and you need rapid feedback reviewing photos) but wouldn't it be great to be able to use my beloved M3 on a workshop as in my view it is quite simply the best Leica ever made. it is nice to listen to Mr Overgaard's thought on photography, life and Leica however suggesting turning off the tv permanently in exchange for a camera is a bit contentious. You cannot watch breaking news from multiple continents simultaneously on (from) your camera. Photography is nice, I love it.....but a choice between my camera and tv, I will cling to the telly. Watching planet earth at midnight on a 75 inches 4k tv is muy bueno Señor!

How do you do that effect at 8 sec's in
@martins68657 жыл бұрын
It's interesting that some people will still refer to Leica as being expensive. Everything is relative and you have choices (within reason). At the end of the day you DON'T necessarily need a Leica to take great photographs,to a great extent it's the man or woman behind the lens that determines that, but is it a different experience using a Leica? Sure as hell it is. I have a few cameras but I know that my M 262 inspires me to take better photographs. It's indefinable in many ways, but the history, manufacturing quality and feel of a Leica makes me want to go out and take photographs. No other camera does this. The results have more mood and presence as well in my view. I love my Leica, simple as that.

That one on the Noctilux is a Heliopan variable ND 62 mm with step-down to 60mm ring. I stopped using that one (except for video recordings) and now use a 3-stop B+W ND filter and a Leica 4-stop ND filter, depending on the camera I use (the Monochrom needs the 4-stop as it's base ISO is higher than the M 240).

Thorsten can I offer a suggestion and its *only* a suggestion :-) Your channel name Magic of Light is difficult to remember man and the chances of someone searching it on KZbin / Google to find you is slim but having your name somewhere as your channel name I really think this will be a better move. I dont use my name because there is 4 other photographers with the same name as me, so I am using Rambles with my camera but it is just a thought man but I think your name is so distinct and well known its the first thing people looking you on KZbin will type to find you ♥ Sending Love from Ireland - Sean
