Would love for MAPPA, WiT, Science Saru or Bones to get the rights to Vagabond. I know Inoue is skeptical after Slam Dunk, but there's far more talent in the industry than before. Vinland Saga has been elevated due to WiT and MAPPA. Same could be done with Vagabond. Would love to see Vagabond's equivalent to Vinland Saga S02E09.

I feel like vagabond would work better as a live action series more than an anime. The art is too hyper realistic for any anime adaptation to capture well

@@patrickstar4918I understand where you’re coming from, but I don’t think that’s true, while it’d definitely be very difficult and expensive I think as long as the fans are patient and the studio producing it has good scheduling it can be animated beautifully. I just cannot describe how beautiful and profound Vagabond is. I pretty much think about it everyday since reading it, through the good times and the bad times, especially the bad times. It's a story that always makes me feel hope and that I can always improve myself, and to think beyond myself as well. One of Musashi's greatest quotes, "Think lightly of yourself and deeply of the world", is truly the heart of this story, and the Farm arc is nothing short of incredible proof of that on so many levels that I will always think about it as life goes on.

You know there is feeling you get when you read the best chapters of climber, berserk, punpun, vinland, etc. That particular emotion is so strong and introspective, it's hard to put it into words. I think vagabond has made me feel that throughout the whole read and it definitely peaks at Farming arc.

I have meet a few who had this kind of arc in their life... Around them one feels at the same time safe yet calm... Can't exactly pinpoint but peoples attitude who are in this state of mind is such inspiration for me that I can't explain how much happiness and knowledge i feel from those ones... Even some things they mention as just a one line thing i might take up as a advice for life... Because what i lack is their experience with life so i can't fully understand their thought process just like those people when musashi was learning village girls how to use sword... All i saw with sword (in this case sword being mindset) was violence and anger so it's hard to understand purpose of life beside that thought when u lack experience in life... And i mean really really hard... Makes me understand how some come to be philosophers

If you ever feel bad about Vagabond never going to be finished, rember it was actually written off of a book series called "Musashi", which was a full biography of real Musashi. I read the books and not manga (not yet, I'm a kid), and I have to say, the books are better (please don't hang me for being a nerd). It may not have the philosophycal impact that manga had, but it was much more historicaly accurate (again, do not hang me). Please read it, because it will finally fill the void that the manga left.

In order to become strong you must first understand to what it means to be weak. Through the beginning of the manga we see musashi a man that values strength face challenges and overcome them through determination. And here we see him in his most weakest and powerless state to the point where he even throws away his pride to feed the people. No manga has made me cry out joy just from seeing a bunch of fools finally manage to make crops grow

haven't read this arc but I can guess that they heavily emphasized on two out of the five elements described in Miyamoto Musashi's The Book of Five Rings. These elements being Water and Earth (2:02). The Water part of the book talks about Musashi’s fighting style and some basic techniques. It also talks about how to be flexible like water in both fighting and everyday life. This means being able to adapt to different situations while staying calm and composed. So, in daily life, you can apply the way of water by being flexible when facing challenges and keeping a cool head. The Earth chapter in The Book of Five Rings is the first book of Musashi’s work and serves as an introduction to his Ni-ten ichi-ryu style of swordsmanship as well as to the other elements of the text. While I couldn’t find any specific information about the Earth part from my sources, one possible interpretation of the meaning of Earth in this context could be that it represents the foundation or grounding upon which all other elements and techniques are built. Just as the earth provides a solid base for us to stand on, the principles and techniques described in the Earth chapter could provide a solid foundation for a martial artist to build their skills upon. This is just one possible interpretation, and there may be other meanings and interpretations as well.

Why quote Bruce Lee, who read the book of five rings, when you are literally talking about the author of the quote in a fictional retelling of his journey through life? Musashi read chinese poetry and philosophy, which probably inspired the quote. It could also be, that he, in actuality, met Takuan Soho - the author of a book talking about the "fightless fight" and "the shapeless shape".

I love Vagabond but honestly I wish he went way deeper into the philsophy. TBH Berserk goes much deeper and further into myth and philosophy than Vagabond. I really wish Inoue just planted his feet a little firmer in that route. The philosphy pops up and they shoehorn it all back in, but I was left wanting in that area. Blade of the Immortal had a similar level of embedded philosophy. Is sword fighting useful outside of war? Are master swordsman just thugs and ruffians? How far should revenge take you? Who dictates how YOU live YOUR life? Love it all

I’ve been hesitating to start reading Vagabond since it’s tough to find all the print omnibuses. Is there a convenient and LEGAL way to read it online?? Thanks for any help
