Dave (the 36-year-old with the impressive beard) was raised almost completely sheltered from pop culture by his strict military family. He was homeschooled his entire life until he entered college. He legitimately has very little knowledge of music and bands from before 2000.
John Doh (the guy in the dark on the right) has been a MUSIC LOVER since he was born in the 1960's. Problem is, he rarely knows or fully grasps the lyrics. Dave (on the left), on the other hand, has never heard or rarely overheard the music John chooses to play for him, but tends to take lyrics literally, sometimes to unexpected ends.
John remains in the dark both as a wry play on the situation but also because of legal issues causing his attorney to recommend maintaining a low profile.
We did not write nor do we own the Copyright for the song used in this Educational Video. This is a real, honest reaction to a song Dave have never consciously heard before and/or listened to with intent. Any "facts" offered by John "Doh" are based more on his remembrances than on any actual research. Please feel free to correct him. He loves it.

The Fifth Element is my favorite movie. Good one, Dave. Gary Oldman as Zorg was brilliant "Nothing Compares to you" Sinead O'Connor. A beautiful heart wrenching song.

This year has been rough, but not as impactful as 2016 (David Bowie and Prince) or 2020 (Neil Peart and Eddie Van Halen). But all this means is that we're all getting older and have to deal with death in one form or another and we all will have to go into that good night. Whether it be gentle or raging, we all must enter that good night.

It may be controversial to some - and it is not meant to diminish the impact and gravity of its occurrence - but the single aspect that makes life so valuable and worth living is death. Without death, life would lack any urgency, and I would argue that all those prolific artists we gather on this channel to admire would not have created any more music as immortals, but likely less because "Meh, why bother? I could do it tomorrow, or next century."

Death. The eternal blink. The caprithiouth danthe of now-you-thtopped-moving-forever. Dethpite popular belief, death ith not jutht for dead people. It can happen to anybody. I know, it'th newth to me too. And it'th not jutht people either, it'th all kindth of thtuff. Hortheth, fiddler crabth, heck, even a potato...can die. But jutht for kickth, let'th look at the word *funeral* for a moment. Thtartth with the word FUN, doethn't it? The Grim Reaper ith an ugly cuthtomer, I'll grant ya that, but ya know who'th worthe? Mr. Mope. No one knowth what lieth at the ithy thummit of Death Mountain. Might be nithe up there! RIP to thothe muthical mathterth, and to Dave'th youtube thtardom. Time for thome new meat.
