I just starting work in Bryce. Your tutorials help me a lot! Thank you so much David!

Hi, Eva, you are welcome, I'm glad the tutorials are helping. If you get stuck, I recommend (if you have not already done so) introducing yourself on the Show Us Your Bryce renders thread over at DAZ3D forum. You will find a small but dedicated group of Brycer's there that are willing to help no matter what your level of experience. Or contact me. I don't mind, but I might be slower to respond than the forum and I certainly don't know all the answers.

Hi, I've been using Bryce to create art for a while now, and all your tutorials are great, but I was looking through the blog on your website and noticed the one where you render with the cartoon/vector effect. I was just wondering if there was a tutorial covering more in-depth with this on your channel or if a continuation of that post existed?

For the most comprehensive coverage of this topic, there is this www.daz3d.com/bryce-7-1-pro-stylised-rendering if money is tight, you can wait for a sale, DAZ have them frequently. Alternatively, I have made these tutorials here on KZbin, which incur no cost to watch. kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5e1q3ivmbyFn9E

hi! thanks for all the work you’ve done, i’ve been learning bryce to make some surreal art recently and you’ve been a big help. i can see that you still respond to comments sometimes, so i was wondering if you could help with an issue. i’ve tried importing a model into bryce, and the model does import correctly with textures, but if i open the material lab to make it more reflective it completely breaks the whole material and displays it incorrectly. is it possible to edit imported assets in the material lab without causing this or is it just not possible?
@davidbrinnen4 ай бұрын
So, here's the thing, Bryce was mostly built around the concept of procedural texturing, because that provided the lowest memory footprint, so when it comes to handling external textures it can be a bit difficult to get it to do what you want. I'd have to see how the channel information was imported from your model to say exactly, which if you wanted to send me the model and texture assesses to test for you just provide me with your email. Or, if you can figure it out yourself, look to see if texture components are being used as the driver for texture effects, because each of the channels can be driven by either an image, a value or procedural texture. Bryce will respond differently and accordingly to each. You might find the answer in my video "A video about PBR workflow into Bryce", since that covers this topic somewhat.

Hi David, long time no see any new video....Was bryce never developed beyond 7 pro? Since years I have not seen anything new.
@davidbrinnen5 жыл бұрын
Aye, it looks like development on Bryce has stalled. I don't know if it a permanent thing or if DAZ will suddenly announce they are going to produce a new version. I'm mostly occupied now modelling in Modo, which is a nice piece of software and technically very capable, though I don't think it has the same out of the box creative potential as Bryce which was very much built with the artist in mind - Modo is probably more suited to a technical mindset than a creative one.

Hi David. Has there been any work on a new bryce version? Last you wrote it was stalled but it's been 6 months. 😊
@Supreme-Emperor-Mittens4 жыл бұрын
Bryce development had completely stalled years ago - which is when I stopped using Bryce. If you want to create realistic environments, use Vue 3D by e-on Software. Just spend a day going through some Vue tutorials and you'll quickly see how Vue completely destroys Bryce. Vue is also very intuitive.

Good day, would you happen to know if it’s possible to import an animation and how I’d be able to play the animation within Bryce?
@davidbrinnen4 жыл бұрын
Hi Sugga, sorry I do not. You might ask at the Bryce forums at DAZ3D, there are a handful of people who understand animation within Bryce and I confess that I am not one of them.

Hi David, Thanks for all your great tutorials. I have a question. Do you know if it is possible to change the colour of the green palette buttons to the blue colour as in Bryce 5.5?
@davidbrinnen7 жыл бұрын
So far as I know, that's not possible for the user. The change in colour scheme was part of DAZ putting their stamp on it and that green was taken from their logo of the time. Since then their branding had changed somewhat, but no attempt has been made to update the Bryce interface colour scheme to reflect the new colour scheme they use.
@Miserableplace7 жыл бұрын
I did bit of research. There is a file called controlpalette.dat in Bryce7/data/ . The colour scheme for the control palette is specified in that file. In principle, it should be possible to edit that file for personal use and change the colours of the main control buttons. I have no idea how though.
@davidbrinnen7 жыл бұрын
Nor I. It might be that by swapping files it would be possible to make cosmetic changes to the interface? I don't know. I would be wary about attempting such a thing in case it lead to program instability. I am not a programmer but I understand from what I read in the specification documents that under the hood Bryce was almost completely rewritten between 5.5 and 7.1, the interface remains more or less the same and much of the core material handling and raytracing persists but all the layers between what the user sees and what the program does were overhauled to allow for the insertion of new features IBL/HDRI, fixing TA rendering, fixing volumetrics... and so forth. A lot of bug fixings, a ton.

Hi David, do you know if the Daz forums have a delay. I was trying to upload something but nothing happened. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if the website is clunkier than my car. Both I suspect.
@davidbrinnen3 жыл бұрын
Then only time I've experienced any delay is when the site was being subjected to a DOS attack. Just checked, yes the forums did seem a bit sluggish.

@@davidbrinnen Thanks David. I've managed to upload a couple, just seems to take 20 minutes before they show up (I'm Robert over there btw). Slight issue with image sizes not being correct and making them a bit blurred but that might be some Windows thing. I dunno. Seem to be 20% too big Anyway they're not high res renders because they are for a game and I have render thousands of them.

Davin Brinnen hey. i make models to games and props to pictures and stuff. my point is. could you make a tutrial on making Angel wings - in Wings3d would be to bigg help :D
@davidbrinnen7 жыл бұрын
That's not really in my skill-set, at least not yet it isn't (I'm not ruling that sort of thing out), so if I do move into that area I will be sure to make a video. Getting the balance between work stuff and learning stuff is challenging, at the moment I am still up to my ears in Substance designer - but at some point I'm sure I'll be returning to learn some new modelling techniques.
