I’m also a bisexual brown woman who was born and raised really close to where Lilly grew up. That’s why I used to watch her back when she first started. She was real and relatable. Over the years though, she just stopped being funny. She got too big, the fame went to her head, and she blamed all constructive criticism she revived on her race and sexuality. She never seemed to think that maybe her content needed to evolve with the times. She also never seemed to care that a lot of her “aesthetic” is blatantly appropriated from cultures that she does not belong to (Jamaican, Indo-Caribbean, African-Canadian to name a few). Even her Indian content has gotten to a point where it just feels insulting, like she’s making fun of Indian stereotypes not so Indians could relate to the content, but for non-Indians to laugh at us. It’s too much and honestly I don’t love her idea of her gaining even more fame.

Lol the fact you don't acknowledge the racism Lilys spews out about white men but talk about cultural appropriation, a non issue is mind-blowing to me.

Seems like it's "a little late" for them to cancel lilly Singh's show. That show is offensive. She made terrible offensive jokes about adopted children and it hits me hard because I was adopted into a good family due to my abusive ones.

Oh wow I’ve not come across these jokes I’m really sorry you had to feel like that though. A lot of her jokes were definitely out of line, particularly the one about domestic violence and Chris Brown beating women. What on earth was that.

She didn’t invent the word bawse. She adapted it from how black people say it. She adapts a lot of their cultural traits language and clothes.

Lily's main issue is that she doesn't know who her audience is any more. Her sense of humour is immature and goofy but her late night show was late at night and aimed at adults.

I used to be a huge fan-girl. I loved her content. I’m half East Indian (and also Canadian) so I related to so much of it. But I didn’t love the transition to late night television and lost interest somewhere along the way. I read the book and it was okay, and very clear I wasn’t the target demographic. I did read the whole thing though, which isn’t always true of books like that.

Idk Lilly is kinda the definition of girlboss;derogatory. like I feel like her comedy is something me as an 11 year old would’ve found funny but not now, like on par with Instagram comedians. kinda like boomer humor with one funny quip in a blue moon :/

it's so disgusting how lilly singh gives herself so much credit for diversity and inclusion, yet has made her entire persona out of appropriating black cultures and ignores all their criticism. she really draws the line at herself when it comes to social activism.

I think Lilly can be funny sometimes, but I agree that the late-nite format really wasn't the right fit for her. Not her fault; it's just that I think a lot of KZbin fans don't watch late night TV, and the audience is just different

A lot of people have been saying one of the biggest problems is you have to have a lot of interviewing talent/experience to make it a late night show host and I have to agree with that being the major problem for her.

Sad thing is that people always compared me to her because i am also Indian and with a... "Big" personality i suppose. I used to watch her from time to time when i was a teenager but i remember that it left a bad taste in my mouth when I saw her "why girls don't go for nice guys" or wtv video and it was so irritating and misogynistic that i lost so much respect for her ever since

I think s2 is infinitely better - better interviewing skills, less one -note jokes and her acting skills in skits have improved but... it still isn't good. I was really disappointed in her labeling some helpful criticism, by talented creators, as hate during S1, She probably wishes she had enough viewers to warrant critiques now.

People really wanted her to fail. But lilly actually tried to improve. Season 2 she stopped mentioning her background all the time. I believe people are very toxic these days like how many youtubers have made videos of how bad her show was just so they get views.
