Hey mate. Around 15:16 , "Trouble with Rain", what about a Bell-Syphon? You could set the MAXHIGHT=(Below rim hight, and (Above fill hight)); That way it could self-drain entirely when over capacity. By doing that you could ensure your nutrients never go below a particular level-Dilution. You will've to turn off the system with any extended rain. (we can fix that with also with a calculator).

12:58 I know coffee has the tendency to adopt the flavors of the plants grown around it (vegetable pepper flavors being common as a consequence). I'm very VERY curious if the potatoes will develop ginger flavors as a result.

Great update Hoocho. I had to go back and see when you installed the verticle wall system. I dont know the complete internals of that system, but I would think some circular cutout aluminum screen and some large perlite would slow the water down for you. Plant roots also love the grab onto that for support.

The chemical you're searching for at 10:43 is ethylene. But I'm unsure it will help for fruiting, it's usually applied for ripening prematurely harvested fruits. I wonder if those dragonfruits can be cultivated here in Italy, I saw them a couple of times at the supermarket but I haven't tried them yet. The plant looks so beautiful. Have you ever tried with hydroponic maracuja/passion fruit? EDIT: ok I should have waited a couple of minutes before asking this one :D
@andrewradford39538 ай бұрын
Good on Ya for making a backwards compatible adaptor.
@madst75218 ай бұрын
Ethylene, not ether :) and yes, apples do create a bit of that. You can try in the fridge - green banana in with an apple will speed up ripening.
@mitchellsullivan83187 ай бұрын
Could you build in a bell siphon on your systems that use float valves? Set it to work at a water level higher than the float valve level? It would have to drain quickly to not just keep pulling nutrients though…

Have you thought of 3-D printing? Caps for the rails of the hydroponic system. Instead of using a heat gun, maybe a whole already in the 3-D print for the tubing
@DrTomatoSpaghetti8 ай бұрын
Hi re the pineapples I think you mean ethylene, it’s a gas but also a hormone for plants, bananas make a lot of it as they go over ripe/brown. Apples make it too as they ripen but make less.

Galangal is extremely similar to ginger, and is a staple of Thai cuisine If you're up for it, you should try to make a galangal beer with your next batch of ginger beer.

Why not print a cover for the float valve grow containers and drill an overflow, similar to how AutoPot systems work?

Hey Hoocho! I have a lot of figs growing in soilless medium and living off top watering similar to your grapes, etc. Last year I had pretty good luck fertilizing them with Jack's 20-10-20 and didn't notice any deficiencies, but I wonder if they still might not be reaching their full potential. What strength hydroponic solution do you water these plants with? I have the various powders from our indoor hydroponics but I haven't used it to water these outdoor plants yet. Thanks!
@Hoocho8 ай бұрын
Jacks is actually a hydroponic nutrient, it has all the major macros and micros. I considered using it when I was first staring out.. its generally used for *cough* higher yield crops *cough* So if youre happyy with the cost stick to it... maybe compare the cost with master blend if you're in the US Campbells Diamond white in AUS

I am just few days before ordering it. I wonder how it worked for you? And more over what made you choose the "green" one. I was considering "orange", "red", "bronze" ones. One more question, do you remember what ratio of calcinit:"green" did you choose?
