I have its very close sibling, the Sony ICF-19. This version runs on D cells, so it's on the original set after 2 years. Great DSP radio.

hello, today I ordered a SONY icf-506 Panasonic, I have three, a Panasonic RF-2400, a Panasonic RF-2400 DEG-K and a Panasonic 3500 E9-K, I'm very satisfied with all of them, but I said I'd also try a SONY, which I also ordered. Thank you for the videos you make, they are very OK and help us a lot in buying a radio.

Hi, thanks for your kind words. When your Sony arrives, just remember to be patient tuning the radio due to the DSP stepping but you'll find it a good radio. Cheers.... Phil

Hi Mauricio, Thanks for your enquiry. DX basically means radio signals coming from a great distance and beyond what the radio was designed to receive. It originated from the days of the use of morse code and was a code for distant signals. Hope this helps. Cheers...... Phil

Hi Phil, thanks for sharing this. It's always nice to see a new radio on the market and this little Sony looks to be a nice, budget portable with nice audio actually. Thanks and 73! Clint

Thanks guys for your comments. I had a good signal from 909 China last night. Comparing to the Panasonic RF-B65, this radio outperformed the B65. It takes patience to tune but with perseverance, you can get good results. Yes the tuning is linear, not too many radios can boast that feature. Again thanks for the comments. Cheers. ...... G'day Robert, Sirry I don't have the Panasonic RF-900 but it looks a nice radio and would be worth finding one. It looks like it would be a great performer. Good luck with your search, one will show up I'm sure. Thanks for your comments. Cheers........ Phil vk2gjf

I have a Sangean SR-35 radio that has that same PLL that he describes and cant stand it. Tuning very slowly you can pass right over a station without it showing up, then go back over it and its there, and have it tuned in, turn radio off and when turned back on its not there, have to re tune it. No thanks.

The ICF-506 is a fantastic radio for what it is. I really like mine. I wanted to get your opinion on the Panasonic RF-900? Not sure if your familiar with that model or not. I was thinking about getting one from eBay. Its an older radio from the 70's.

Couldn't help noticing the linearity of the AM dial scale. Almost perfectly linear. Eg same distance between 600 kHz (if marked) - 800 kHz as 1400 KHz - 1600 kHz. Very rare (most scales are crowded past 1200 kHz). Do they have a specially shaped variable capacitor?
@radioenthusiastseoul89307 жыл бұрын
He says it is a DSP radio. DSP dial radios tend to have a very linear dial scale thanks to variable resistors, not variable capacitors.
