I like listening to AM radio at night, for distant stations. Sony does make great radios, which are quite sensitive. I had a Sony stereo recording Walkman, with an AM/FM radio, in the early 1990s. The AM antenna was actually built into the door of the Walkman, where the cassette tape would go. It was very small. In Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, at night, I remember being able to pick up an AM radio station from California. Thanks for sharing this video. It was awesome. Cheers! ✌️

@@640amthemix I no longer have that Sony Walkman. I have a Sony AM/FM clock radio, that a friend gave me. It's also very sensitive on the AM band, at night.

Hello, Um you might want to try using the TUNING wheel on top, NOT the volume control (on the side) to tune in the station when using the loop thing HAHA, if you dont believe me just rewatch this video ! I don"t think anybody else caught it ! Anyway, I did decide to buy one today (6/22) because the 506 was VERY dissapointing, the AM sounded very muffled so I returned it, and I recommend any one who just wants to listen to talk radio FORGET about the 506 or the 19 because the speaker is factory set to mid range, with NO bass or treble controls ! So please be warned, the 506 or 19 were not designed for crisp, clean, AM sound ! The 306 is the big brother of the P36 which I LOVE . SO , I will gladly pay 39.95 for it , thanks Mr Todderbert !

Cool to hear multiple St Louis Stations making their way up to you. On the flip, during the daytime, I get some of your clear-channel stations on the ground wave on my GE SupeRadio III. JB Bridge area of STL (I-255). I get 670, 720, 780 & 890 round the clock day or night. Most of our AM stations broadcast from the American Bottoms (MetroEast) region.

The red loop (Tecsun AN-200) and the one he's using now works pretty much identically with how well it boosts your reception of AM/MW signals, the only thing different is aesthetics, it's just personal choice on what one you want to use.

I have found tuning the Terk Loop is easier for me. There is a slight difference in performance. My best one is the Select-A-Tenna, but I like the fit of the Terk more.

Size, the 306 runs the same amount of time on two AAs, and is larger with better audio.

Hi Todd brilliant video thank you. I am a long time radio listener but recently got into vintage and not too vintage radio collecting. I live in Britain and basically mostly only the BBC transmit on AM here. Were I live I am between 2 transmitters one about 30 miles away as the crow flies and another about 25 miles away and I am interested to find out which antena my signal comes from. Will the direction the radio picks up best give the direction of the station the signal I am getting is coming from? All the best Darren 😀

Possibly, when you are that close to the transmitters, sometimes you can move the radio in all directions and pick it up perfectly.
