I think the dark rust coloured Bertha cardigan looks fantastic on you including its rust colour. My favourite cardigan is Butterick 6961 - which a girls cardigan. I enlarge it a bit for my adult figure. I have made one cardigan from it about 3 years back - which is pilling badly. So I will taking the buttons off this cardigan and making another cardigan from Butterick 6961 from dusty pink fleece back fabric.

Great video! My favorite is the Juniper Cardigan by Jennifer Lauren Handmade. I’ve made 5 of them! You’re right. We call everything a sweater! But now I’m starting to differentiate between Cardigan’s and pullovers, etc. All of the Cardigan’s suit you Tamlyn - Enjoy them all!

Fall/autumn 2023 is just around the corner and my mind is going to all of my sweater knits waiting to be made up into cozy sweaters and cardigans. This was really helpful to help me get focused on patterns. BTW, in the US we use the term 'sweater' for garments that go over the head and 'cardigan' for anything that is open at the front (both using sweater knits, lightweight or heavy).

Great video. ❤Here in the US we also call them cardigans. A sweater is a knit garment that you pull over your head. A sweatshirt is a casual garment generally in French Terry or sweatshirt fleece that is also pulled over your head. Confusing enough? 😉 I love my Marlos and my favorite pattern is free; Sinclair Harper. I do not at all like a cardi that cannot be pulled together at the front so I never understood all the love for Blackwood. I made one at the beginning of my sewing journey and won't make it again.

I made a couple of very lightweight Bertha cardigans. Which don’t crease and end up being thrown on the car foot well or at home somewhere. I’ve not made a winter one. I use the thumb cuffs to add to lots of knit sweatshirts and tops. I was thinking of the True Bias cardigan. Now I’m not sure what to try. I have a TATB Nora cardigan. Which cam free with a magazine. I might give that a try. I’m trying not to buy patterns. Unless I really know I’m going to make them up very soon. I enjoyed your video. It’s good to see them on you. As I’m terrible imagining clothing or fabric being worn. Thank you. I love your fun and friendly chats. 😁

Love this style video where you compare your makes within a category - really shows the differences on REAL made garments - all look lovely on you. I think you can get away with the brown cardi as long as you wear black underneath to coordinate with the hares on the cardi. Best color match for you was the teal/aqua blue Carrie cardi as it perfectly matched your eyes!!! I'm impressed enough with your Marlo crop with buttons to go ahead and give it a try myself.

All of your cardigans/sweaters are lovely😊. In the US we refer to them as both cardigans and sweaters, I use both descriptions.
@lz7382 жыл бұрын
In the USA, a cardigan is a TYPE of sweater. A sweater is anything knitted with the kind of yarn you would use with knitting needles or crochet needles and can include cardigans (opens fully down the front) and pull-over sweaters and turtleneck sweaters, etc. A cardigan can also by made from other kinds of knit fabrics, like interlock knit fabric but that wouldn't be a "sweater." And then there are sweatshirts which are made with things like french terry.

Loved this video Tamlyn. My favourite of your makes is the Fjord in the pink and double sided fabric. The way you used the fabric is amazing - so creative. I’ve made several Blackwoods and love them all. However, I do find the sleeves too close-fitting if you want to wear anything underneath. Also, I always double the width of the neckband to give me more coverage😂 at the front. Top 5 tops would be good. Very professional presentation style by the way 💕

The brown and black bunny sweater looks good on you with the black top. Anyone can get away with any colour in a layering piece as long as they wear a colour thar is strong from their colour palate nearest their face, and also preferably in a print like yours is, in the layering piece.

Thanks for sharing your cardigan patterns. I live in Canada and that is what I've always called them. I have made the Harper Cardigan a free pattern from Sinclair Patterns. It's a great pattern, I think it comes in 3 different lengths. I didn't add the buttons but I think when I make it again I will. I did find the sleeves a bit narrow, not great for layering. But I can easily alter that. Thanks for sharing all of your cardigans. Something I've done over the years with cardigans that are getting a bit worn out is just to wear them as a robe over my pjs. Also do you think the Bertha could be made a bit longer?

The rusty cardigan worn with black is great! As long as the black is closest to your face, your fine!! I'm an advanced sewer, but I've never worked in a sweater knit. I was always worried that it would stretch and grow and be horrible to work with! Your cardigans all look great!

Great video Tamlyn, I hadn't heard of one of them so going to check that one out. There were a couple of others that I know of; the Sinclair Harper Cardigan - a free pattern similar to helens closet with 4 length options and the Jennifer Lauren Juniper cardigan - a much more fitted style like RTW cardigans.

Lovely cardis and that last one definitely suits you btw 😊I’d like to try the Bertha. I’ve used a big four pattern a few times and looks very different in the fabrics I used.Butterick 6251. There’s 4 versions. Also used the itch to stitch Lisbon pattern in the cropped version. I find choosing the right fabric quite difficult and can’t decide. I really like the Marlo sweater too. Many thanks 😊

Love all of them! I bought the Carrie cardigan because of you and have already made one for myself and three for my sisters! I am definitely going to try the Bertha and Fjord! Thanks! By the way you can definitely get away with the Rust colored cardigan because of the black and it looked great with the black top you were wearing! Xoxo I’ve also made the Cocoon cardigan by Jalie, which I love - The next time I’m going to widen the sleeves, because it comes with a more fitted sleeve but it’s a really nice pattern with a lot of options.

Cardigans are called 'cardigans' in the entire English-speaking world. 'Sweater' is the American word for 'jumper'.
