Absolutely gorgeous Joe. It was you that inspired me to get a Persimmon tree and a Rojo Brillantte at that. My tree has produced a handful of flowers for the first time this year, so I figure it should do better next year. Exciting times ahead.

Thanks Micheal. Now that’s the aim of my channel to inspire and encourage others, and I’m so glad you not only got yourself a Rojo Brillante, but it’s also flowering for you now. I hope you get to enjoy your very own fruit this coming autumn/winter 😃🌱

Wow, your persimmon trees are loaded with flower buds, Joe! Fingers crossed you get some fruits on the Cioccolatino this year 🤞

Hey Peter, yeah it looks to hopefully be a good yeah for the Cioccolatino 🙏🏽😃 I’m just in awe with the amount of flowers it has. Hopefully we’ll continue to have good weather this summer into autumn, that’s what these trees thrive on.

That rain + hail mashed up loads of my plants. They were not ready. Glad your trees are still keeping it moving.

Ahhh man! Sorry to hear that. On a good note the plants sure needed it….minus the hail 😧

Looks like you friends and neighbors are going to love you when you harvest the persimmons. I hate the fruitlet drops on mine. They are expert self thinners on excess fruit. Mine are going into year 4 and I have started shortening the long thin branches in late fall so I don’t have overfill branches that break off during hurricane season. That has made for stronger trees.

Friends yes 😀 neighbours maybe not! as I’m having to pull up their weeds coming from under the fence😞 very good idea to shorten the branches to prevent them from snapping. I think I’ll need to do the same at some point 👍🏾

Yes Nikitas Gift is noted to be more of a spreading / weeping habit 😁

Well, maybe it will be easier to harvest fruit, when it starts fruiting that is 😂

Interesting to see different persimmons getting along. My jiro fuyu in zone 7a is already past the petal fall stage with the boxy fruitles are obvious now. Are these in your garden astringent varieties?
@joestropicals6760 Жыл бұрын
I feel really fortunate to be able to have a few varieties in ground and thriving. Great to hear your Fuyu is past the petal fall stage and fruits developing. Mine are all astringent, although the Cioccolatino is a little different, as if it gets pollinated it becomes none astringent.

Fascinating that mine is predominantly male and yours is all female. I've read that some varieties can change sex from year to year 🤪🤪. I suppose as mine came from Europe that it might not be the variety its meant to be lol, although I haven't heard of other varieties that are known to carry both male and female flowers 😱

Brett, yes really fascinating the difference between our trees. Yours have all the characteristics of being a Cioccolatino, mine however 🤔 anyway I’m just pleased to see an abundance of flowers, and hopefully fruit 🙏🏽
