Sad thing is that militants/fundamentalists think such sites are "heretical"- but I really hope nothing happens to such beauties- it's always great to see some of the amazing things that people in the past created.

the funny thing is, muslim CALIPHS, built these sites and preserved the ancient, pre-islamic sites they call "heretical".

I think islam nowadays is a fixed religion from what it was in the days this architecture was built, to judge by the paintings It's obvious it wasn't a sexist religion, they are misinformating people

@@presidentsnow3105 the "caliph" who build this is descendant of the casualties of badr battle ..to understand the umayad (caliphate who built this) read some history during their pre Islamic times and during abbasid revolution

This is muslim building. Muslim caliph built it. He was not a good muslim. We never destroyed any place we took.

Place looks pretty rough and may prove to be a write off in the end. Too bad it must have been very impressive in its heyday.
