Yep, it’s not worth changing anything interior-wise given that they’re in the fleet for only another couple or years. Won’t have been costed into a budget anyway.

Probably not worth saying this, but I do miss the good old days when train-spotting meant loco-spotting. The newer multi-unit trains barely spark my interest, but thanks for uploading all the same!

Gosh they are so quiet now well done EMR for taking these on what a difference did they rattle ?? Most complains were bad rattling from the train itself how was it ? I think they are taking over the HST with the class 222 for a while well done on the video matey

So what is happening with the Class 180 Adelantes as EMR are replacing with the Class 810 AT300 IETs which has been nicknamed “Aurora”. And is schedule to enter service from 2023. Will the Class 180s be going to Grand Central as they have 10 Class 180s. 🤔

Yes, GC could be one possibility if they expand their services and hence need more rolling stock.

Which would be an absolute shame. When they work properly, they are a fantastic train; but given that DMU and Intercity don’t go together these days, there’d probably be no long-term takers apart from GC. So, as for the future, it’d be short-term leases or, as you say, for the scrapheap just over half way through the possible working life.

Such a pity it took years of expensive mods and refurbs to turn the 180s into decent (ish) trains! Not been on one since their second disappearance from FGW in 2017, but by that time they were riding better and not sounding so gruff as in 2001. 180s can move off 'like shit off a shovel', and braking is great but (like the disgraceful Voyager and 800 'families') never a patch on HSTs for InterCity on-board refinement and ambience.
